As the title says really. I need a new graphic card to play bf4 (when it stops crashing). On the deals at the moment I am between the 7970 matrix and the iceQ boost 7950.

Much difference between the 2? Or go for a R9 280X ?

Only reason to go matrix is for build quality and appearance as overclocking headroom isn't guaranteed. The led on the side is real nice though. My friend bought an asus dcu2 280x on the same day as myself and wished that he bought the matrix just from looking at both the cards side by side.

All good choices really.
 
I just bought the Asus 7970 Matrix Plat today after researching and deliberating all week. So from my research, and from what many on the forum here told me, the Matrix is the best performer at that price range. Although the 7950 is fantastic if you want to pay a bit less and have slightly less performance. And the 280X Toxic is possibly slightly better if you're willing to pay the £40 more, although didn't really get a definitive answer on that so not 100% sure. Either way it would be pretty marginal.

And just to let you know, today is the last day the Matrix is on offer at that price, goes up at some point tomorrow.

Recently opted for a 7950 myself and clocked it to 1100/1500. The extra price of a 7970/280X didn't justify the performance increase for me.

It absolutely blazes through BF4 @1080p w/ no AA. Brilliant upgrade from my 6870.

Cheers. I know the price was even less a couple weeks back, I missed it by faffing about...... this time I don't want to miss it!!!

Think I will pull the trigger on the Matrix. This 5850 is getting tired!! What power supply do you have?

A 7950 will run BF4 at 1080p without issue. Especially if you get to 1100/1550 speed you can run it fine. (turn off the Ambient Occlusion because it is the major cause of BF4 crashes)

I was playing on the open beta and was a blast. And if you manage to sell the game voucher at around 30-40 consider to grab a second 7950. :)
