********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

Well, tried the app last night, it's rubbish. The Chop mini-game thing is pointless, the car customisation isn't much good either and the interface is crap; when you touch the screen to scroll the app interprets your initial contact with the screen as a tap so you end up selecting stuff you don't want.

The rest of the functionality, disappointingly, just links to the Rockstar websites (much of it not even in a phone-friendly format) and gives you two zoom buttons so you can actually attempt to read text. I was hoping for some kind of decent interface to show your game progress, or Snapmatic photos or whatnot, but seems they couldn't be bothered. Seems like a complete missed opportunity, especially when you consider there's a phone in the actual game.

If it had been out at the time the game launched I'd be fairly disappointed with it, but to have it land six weeks later in this state is almost an insult really.

Well that was a good afternoon; wanted to play some GTA5 as I am feeling absolutely rotten and my launch PS3 gives me the YLOD. Can't see anything obvious from a quick strip down (except the fact that I have a screw left over.... :o). Quite possibly the PSU as it is masking some funky noises when turning it off and back on again.

Oh well it has lasted 6 or so years, not bad in the grand scheme of things.

Now do I get another one or wait for the PC version (and play in Surround)...

Has anyone managed to get a custom numberplate work with the Android app?

I ordered a plate for the offline and one of the online cars, it says the order went though.

There isnt the option to use a custom plate at LSC online or offline.

That's all i wanted to use the app for and it doesnt work, it was worth the wait :D

I'd join in the song but I have two questions!!

On the player icons, bottom right when you go to switch characters - what are the little numbers under each character? Michael has a number 1 and franklin has a number 5?

Also, is it worth buying property before ending the main storyline and making millions on the stock market? Property such as the scrap yard bottom right of the map at $275k? Michael has over $600k in my game atm but I'm a long way off completing the main storyline. Should I just keep my cash for now?

property is useless take that scrapyard, the income you make from it is $100 or something stupid like that for every car you take and scrap there.

basically you would need to scrap like 2750 cars before you break even.

all other properties make better money than it, but you have to constantly defend them against gang attacks otherwise income depletes.

your better off not buying any property tbh unless you plan on buying loads of cars, boats, helicopters etc and want to store them at their designated properties.

Finished the game, spoiler.

Cars
Make sure you don't take cars on a mission, its random whether they are still there. Only the cars by default for each character stay.

What an ending!
I have to say the game takes you through a mad journey, makes you think of the movie Heat a lot. Clever writers too, when you see how they introduce Trevor you would think well he has to be the one to go, when you go through the journey you realise its not your position to get rid of him, especially since you're doing it because you have been told to - not because you want to. The guys a mess anyway, every time you select him hes drunk, killing or dressed as a woman!!

I picked him and regretted it, pick C!!!

tl;dr - Good game, good grasp, shocking ending!

Briefcases of money respawning glitch

A few pages back I posted about not being able to find the 'hidden' briefcases of money after *R patched out the money respawn/switch character glitch.

Well, last night after reading something posted over on the GTA Forums, I decided to go back to a couple of locations and have a look. I was pleasantly surprised to find I could get them back. Most of you may already know this but......

They didn't manage to patch out completely the respawning briefcases thing. Only the ability to get them to respawn after performing the 'switch character' trick. However, if you swim to where the briefcase is then quick save, then dive down to where it should be underwater, it will have appeared again. Grab it, swim to the surface, get your mobile phone out and quick save again. Then immediately load that saved game and dive back down. Briefcase of money is there again!!. :D

Grab it, rinse and repeat until you are happy. I know it's of questionable value in the grand scheme of things as you would be there for ages if you wanted to make really big bucks. But where else at this stage of the game before performing the Lester missions and doing the stockmarket can you earn $25k in the space of a few minutes, over and over again?

Guys,
I have done the first assasination and before hand I put all my money into the right stocks but now I want to cash in on them but every time I go to the BAWSAQ it says down for maintenance!

Is there anything I can do?

Should I continue with the game or just leave it and come back to it later because the stocks will start going down the further on I keep playing?

Guys, keep an eye on PIS for those who invested. It is currently down for the first time at $301.65 and could have now reached its peak. I just sold off my shares having bought them at $2.

Michael made 410mill, Trev made 390mill and Frank 410mill. Nice!

Hi all, I'm a bit stuck. I've just completed the mission 'The Wrap Up', but now I can't seem to progress further with any more missions. I've switched characters a few times, Trevor and Michael have no more missions available, Franklin has 2 available (but I can't see what they are).

Can anyone remember which character is supposed to progress the story now and if there's a way to fix(?) this?

You may have to wait some time for new missions to appear,I recall after a mission having to wait a couple of days for new missions to appear but can't remember which.Just do some activities and they pop up.
