Another terror suspect outwits police by wearing burkha

To be fair if they didn't/couldn't have eyes on in the building then how would you expect them to keep track when I imagine there are plenty of women in burkas coming in and out without stopping each one and alerting him to the fact he's being followed (the fact he obviously knew or suspected anyway is irrelevant).

If they had reason to suspect him of committing acts of terrorism in the first place (which they obviously do given that they were surveilling him, and his disappearance warranted a public "be on the look out") then yes, I'd expect them to do something to ensure that he couldn't just put on a disguise and walk away. Otherwise, let's face it, the whole surveillance thing becomes a bit of a waste of time? I'm not saying that a stop and search of everyone leaving the mosque wouldn't have been somewhat unpopular, mind you...

Just like how spray painting your car makes the police lose all interest :D

I love the police logic in GTA :)

"That guy just stole a car then ran down ten pedestrians!"
"It's OK, he's painted the car green now. Noooo worries."

Well if they knew he'd gone in and wanted to catch him, then what's to stop them from checking everyone leaving the building apart from the fear of offending people who like to wear socially divisive garments?

They didn't want to catch him, he was under surveillance they're 2 very different things and I didn't say anything about offending people but covert surveillance is pretty useless if you walk up to them get them to identify themselves and then let them go about their business, because they're not going to do anything incriminating after that.

Wow, I mean, this is simple stuff. I first say it in 2004 when 24 was on telly.....

I saw it in the 70's when the evil amusement park caretaker pretended to be a ghost in an episode of Scooby Doo.
Someone should add this ruse into the Police Training manual, then they won't keep falling for it :)

Amazing that 5 - 10 years ago hoodies were banned in places for less.

You're right - it's amazing that the ultra-liberals in the establishment can't even bring themselves to ban witnesses in court from burkhas, possibly defying the centruries old legal convention of being able to face your accuser. You can't face someone if you can't see their face.

regurgitate - bring (old news) up again to the mouth and start the vicious cycle (of pointless "debates") all over again.

I'll point out that there's an easy way to stop this from happening - all it takes is for the government to stop claiming expenses on everything, use some common sense and do something for a change.

It's today's news and concerns an ongoing problem, not least terrorist suspects using Mosques as cover and a source of aid (unless burkas are all hanging on pegs waiting for anyone to borrow one for the weekend).
We all know that guy in charge of this mosque will deny all knowledge when asked about what was going on, that Islamists are nothing to do with them, yadda yadda yadda. It's all BS.

Nothing vicious about this debate, you just can't accept that it's a bit freaky for people to wander around the streets with a bin bag on their head when it's not Halloween.

It's times like this that I wish Indians in the UK would ride around on Elephants as part of their culture, at least that would be cool as. Muslims are boring and only ever do annoying things like starve themselves.

Ok we will put it to the test to see if you can do what the police can't. Pick the guy out of this picture.

I will give you a clue his is the one smiling ;)
That's a bit different to seeing how someone moves, their posture and their rough build (shoulder width).

I'm not saying it's possible to spot a man 100% of the time, it depends on the man, but I'm pretty sure it would be obvious with some.

I know some ladies that play rugby and they make some men look like..well girls.

So like the police you have no clue.

Notice how the debate in the media is all about tagging and not about the real issue of people covering their faces in public.
