One of the best advancements in PC tech was when IBM launched their PS2 system.

Unfortunately the way IBM marketed it meant it was going to go no where.

I can see the same thing happening to G-Sync, Mantle and a lot of other stuff AMD and NVidia come up with.

It's really not, 15 games doesn't secure you anything.

No direct comparisons here, the market is very different now but it's still a little insight as to why 15 games doesn't mean anything. Especially when they're no where near completion yet.

It's really not, 15 games doesn't secure you anything.

Its a start and a pretty good one. Securing plenty of AAA titles with the promise of more to come. Rome wasn't built in a day.

The release of Battlefield 4 and Mantle more than trumps any previous OpenGL release by ten fold.

We've not even seen Battlefield 4 in Mantle yet . It wants to shine alongside the DirectX version otherwise that's going to be a bit anticlimactic.

Well, come on, the Article does mention several times about price. And it will be an issue. Gsync might be brilliant, but it does come at a cost. We don't know that cost yet. And Asus having exclusivitiy for the first year is a concern as well, because exclusivity usually means higher price. Not to mention that both Samsung and Ben Q make better 120/144hz monitors.

So if this thread is a discussion on the article, then price has to be part of that discussion.

it will be done already. DICE will have just ring-fenced the 1st month after BF4's release for bug hunting and patching issues on all formats before releasing the mantle version

Anyone can feel free to shoot me down if I'm wrong, but if I'm not mistaken ASUS LCDs use Sammy panels lol. Has it not already been said you can pick up and do the self install for £150? That alone I really don't see as that much if the technology is as revolutionary as a lot of journalists are making it out to be. It's to be expected there will be an elevated price. You can't expect these modules to be in panels and there not be an additional cost. Otherwise where would the profit be reaped from? As it is ASUS have probably paid a premium to have a yearly reseller right, as there probably isn't a lot in it for them otherwise.

There is a lot more to monitors than the panels. Yes you can do the install yourself for £150, but that's a lot of money. Just like if the price of these units makes the monitors £100 more.

And, I know it isn't free to install this module. But, it's the final cost that I am wondering about.
