All,

I've noticed that I have an oil leak and it manifests itself as a small patch, every 24 hours.

I've seen a spot on the ground about 60-80 cm to the left of the right tyre (drivers side) up slightly towards the front of the car.

The material left is solid black, doesn't really smell and isn't thick in feel.

Any idea what kinda oil it is?

I have the car going in for a check out, incidentally it's only started happening since I had a service and MOT a few weeks ago.....

Incidently on the service they changed the filter and oil (as expected), maybe they didn't put the filter back correctly?

Dunno, this has been a couple of weeks, but i've only noticed it in the last 5 days or so, and was certain today it was a leak. Maybe the sump possibly. Hope thats not expensive.

You've not said which car it is but possible causes could be the sump drain nut not tightened sufficiently and it's worked its way loose, or the seal around the oil pressure switch which would also be low down near the sump. Neither would be expensive.

Obviously though it could be a multitude of things (both team and expensive) so impossible to tell without looking at it.

Sorry, it's a Citroen C4, 2007 model. Interesting that it started happening after it had a service and MOT.

If you can't check it yourself then take it back and ask them to have a look. It might be that residue oil is there from changing the filter. Some cars are awful and it makes a right mess which is impossible to clean off completely.
