Well I asked this question in laptops while back but it's not as busy as a forum and I don't know why but I expect it's more something GD (I realise it's wrong subforum mods any chance of a brush over this time?) would have tried LOL.
Basically though, I bought a male to female Sata cable so I could plug my desktop HD into my laptop but it doesn't seem to work just says no HD detected even though I feel it running. Do the power requirements differ? or could my desktop hd be broken.
Reason i'm trying this is laptop hd died so thought well I've got a spare desktop HD so I can try that.
Anyone done this or know anything about it? I can't really test desktop HD but i'm wondering if I should persue this or not cause i'm not even sure if this is supposed to work, maybe power requirements differ for desktop HD's? if so what else could I do.
Thanks
Edit: Yes the adapter includes the power
