*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

For anyone looking for lock screen Notifications, I reckon "NILS Lock Screen Notifications" is better even than Dashclock, it gives previews of Texts, BBMs and E-mails, it's about as close to IOS as you're going to get with it.

can aonyone confirm if their phone screen is slightly sunk compared to the shell around it. we're talking less then 1mm. i'm not sure if perhaps mine is sunk more then it should be hence the sides feeling sharp when swiping in, esp from the right hand side.

i'm also now noticing with less then a days use dirt is stuck between the screen and the shell and it's impossible to remove as you end up just pushing it further into the gap.

finally there may be a software issue here but hangouts doesn't wok for me using the interenet, only sms works

I'm not impressed with the battery so far. Only light use and the battery has had it by the end of the day. My old S2 would still be above 50%. I couldn't go out with this for a day and use it a fair bit and expect it to still be going come the evening, disappointing.

Battery life has not been too bad for me. However some processes are keeping awake the phone, Google services and Google OS.

One thing that is a must is Auto Lux. I've stood by it since last year. It's an incredible auto brightness app where you set and calibrate the brightness of the display according to the ambient light that is hitting the light sensor. Once set it will automatically do it's thing far better than the stock options.

It also gives you the ability to set the brightness to a far lower level than the stock brightness options. Very useful as I find the lowest setting to be still way too bright at night in bed!

can this be used with stock launcher?

They don't offer refunds on SIM free phones.

Well I ordered online so DSR applies :) Will try to return it in a store this week and see what they say, but I can't see how they could refuse?

But I do like it, I'd keep it if I didn't already have the HTC.

You guys really rate the camera? My main issue is the focus speed, and the fact that it doesn't always focus correctly. You might be right though, and corrected soon through software in which case the kinks could be ironed out.

Quality wise I think the camera is excellent.

I would say that it could be faster to focus and take the photo.

Iv'e read that this is a design feature ... the idea is that if dropped it will be the shell that hits a flat surface and not the glass which may give some added protection ... apparently it was the other way round on N4 (screen protruded above shell) so it was highly likely that if dropped then it would hit the screen with likelihood of it cracking.

Ordered a white 16GB from the play store this morning 10.37am, just had the shipping email with tracking number at 3.40pm :D

Really confused about the way photos are done on the new Google Photo app vs Google+ on a desktop. On the phone app I can only see photos taken with the phone and photos in the 'Highlights' section.

If I go to the Google+ app to find the rest of the photos I'm taken back to the photo app and I'm back at the beginning of this post.

Also if you go to 'People' and change 'Contacts to display' to 'your gmail account' and then go to the dialler and tap 'All Contacts' it does not carry over and Contacts from all accounts are in there. Very annoying.

Camera focusing maybe fixed with a software update, don't be too quick to judge it :D

Yeah noticed that yesterday with Touchdown for Exchange which I use for work e-mail. Despite turning off "touchdown contacts" in "people/contacts" they still appear in the list when using the Phone app, I just un-installed it and used the built in email client, seems to work with Exchange 2010 fine on KitKat now.

Lightflow app updated on play.. mine appears to work so far :)

Can confirm the new updated version working fine - yay!

Anyone else getting a bug where the camera fails to start when opening the camera app? I.e. Camera app loads but screen blank apart from camera icons? Happened a couple times to me today.

I havent used the camera too much so not really noticed. But i did get it when i tried to use google goggles. I had to restart the phone to get the live view/camera back.

I don't get Lighflow, it's so overly complicated.
I want a different colour notification LED for gmail, facebook messenger, whatsapp and texts....and it can't seem to do that.
My N4 had a different colour for everything and I never even configured it!?!?!?
