*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Hmm seems to be contradictory what people are getting when using the N5 camera. Most reviews say its good and better than the N4 but still not that great.

Also, nearly every review i have read so far they have mentioned focusing issues and that its very hit and miss with the photos. When taken properly they are excellent but if your taking pictures of moving objects like children and animals etc then chances are they are going to be out of focus and blurry. What i sum up is the camera is excellent but only in perfect conditions and in the real world its let down my software and focusing glitches.

An update will prob fix the camera focusing but if and when..?

Well Google themselves told the Verge that the camera update was in testing. So soon I would imagine. Plenty of phones recently have had some software issues with the camera on release.

The HTC One and the Moto X both needed an update to fix their cameras. The important thing is that the camera is capable of taking excellent photos, the software focusing issue will be fixed.

Is anyone using custom launchers with their N5?

I always use Apex Launcher on my phones and am doing so now. The custom launchers need to be updated to support the new features from the stock launcher, for example the transparent status and notification bar, but the Apex guys have said they're already on it.

For now i have sensibly sized icons and can use my favourite icon theme again too, so i'm happy. Can't live without customisation options!

Battery seems good to me, been running for 14 hrs screen on for 2hr and battery at 50%

Well its lasted my 9hr shift at work tonight anyway with half left so alls good :)

I'm not getting good battery use at all. Less than 11hrs off charger, 1hr 40mins screen time, only light use checking emails and a bit of browsing and YouTube, and I'm at 29%... I've turned off location services now which was on low battery settings anyway.

seriously having second thoughts if the battery life is this awful. whats the point in a great phone if the battery doesnt last even a day. i'd prefer one less Megapixel for a decent battery. if you want a decent camera go buy a DSLR.

I don't even use the camera...

I thought i was the only one! The whole time i had my SGS2, i never once used the camera. It boggles my mind the amount of fuss people make over them. Take it out and give me a bigger battery!

Speaking of which, i'm not seeing fantastic battery life myself, but it's better than i was getting on my previous device so i can't complain!

I don't have a brilliant signal where I live, and I know Android phones can tank the battery when trying to get a signal. I never had such bad use on the S2 though. It's not looking like this is the phone for me :(

Loving mine. Battery is better than the N4 and camera is way better.

People should let the battery bed in a bit. And also understand that without a shadow of a doubt you are using and playing with your new toy way more than you think. So not a fair comparison yet I reckon.

I agree. The battery needs time to bed in, 5 cycles at least.

One thing I have noticed is how efficient the charging is. I've just gone from 1% to 25% in 15 minutes charge time.

I don't think this is a phone that can be dismissed or ignored (even if it does have mediocre battery life) as for the price there really isn't anything out there that can touch the N5. Other phones in this league are near enough double the price!

When I'm working I don't use my personal phone. After 4 hours just being sat on the desk its at 80%, so something isn't right. The S2 would be on 96%... The battery has had 4 or 5 charges, I can't say I have noticed improvement over time with modern batteries?

It went from 100% to 80% in 4 hours with no on screen time? Something is wrong there!

Well guys, how's everyone enjoying their Nexi? :D

Welcome back ;):D

Loving it. For me everything smells of roses. Great battery, camera etc but then again I have been using a S2 for 2 years and not used any of the other flagship phones which everyone is comparing it too. So it's gonna be a massive leap forward for me :)

Clearly there's something wrong if it loses 20% in 4 hours of not using it! Mine lost 31% in 9 hours of moderate use yesterday!
