£1200 Gaming PC - Spec Check / Tune

Good spot, theres a lot left in my spec for a 4770k.. rather than a 4670k.

I doubt theres a lot in the performance, but things are edging towards multi-threaded CPU's.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys, it's much appreciated.

Is it purely PSU that'll be holding me back in this spec for going crossfire? What would I need to cover future-proofing of adding a second graphics card?

How is this looking considering the DVD drive instead of blu-ray now?

Really like it, but maybe the 850 would be more suited. I only say this encase you decide to upgrade to a 290x/290pro/780Ti later on or even for xfire. Better to have scope than not enough power.

Everyone else can stop specing, the master(stulid) has spoken :)

1kw for a single card system? The motherboard isn't suitable for xfire even tho it says its compatible.

Samsung 840 evo over the plextor.

Faster ram

OP said he would consider crossfire/sli in the future and don't see why you wouldn't get a beefier psu if that's the case, there's no real world difference between the Plextor and Samsung and the motherboard is crossfire compatible if you go to the Msi website that is a main point of that motherboard, Faster RAM is probably the thing that could be changed.

and the motherboard is crossfire compatible if you go to the Msi website that is a main point of that motherboard,

It does Crossfire at 16X/4X bandwidth, not the best when more expensive boards do it at 8X/8X so each card gets equal bandwidth.

May as well go for a Gigabyte D3HP which includes a free cooler than the MSI G43 board.

That would work.

Would need a bigger PSU if you wanted to add a second card later.

The Ronin is cheap plastic....
The Antec is high quality brilliant and sturdy. Maybe being fairly old in design it may lack a few features, but the build quality more than makes up for that. And its £20 less than the plastic Ronin!

Its lacking cable management, painted interior, USB3.0. I doubt it could take anything meaningful in the way of water cooling, it may not even take larger heatsinks over 160mm?

Old rubbish case (and I include the 902 and 1200 in this) needs to be took round the back of the shed and shot.
