I would get a better case, psu and you really want quad channel ram for 2011 socket.

why a better case? case is a case...
what psu would you suggest for a similar price? (and why)
quad channel, ye you could but your going up in price for not much return..

If your going to spend the best part of £1000 why would you go for a very basic/budget case that has very poor airflow out of the box (Only 1 fan pre-installed) You would then need to spend money on extra fans which is defeating the object. I usually say around 10% of the overall budget for a case.

OCZ psu's are not the best, and they are apparantly in financial trouble. I would personally go for an Antec, Seasonic or Corsair.

Socket 2011 supports quad channel ram which equals more bandwidth, so why not use it ?

but i seem to be having a few problems with powering it up. It turns on for about 3 seconds then immediately shuts off, then turns on again for 3 seconds then turns off in a continuous loop also with no beeps, all the fans seem to be working aswell but when i watch the CPU cooler, the indicator light has a dim flash then shuts off.. but i made sure its fitted correctly so i'm not sure whats going on, maybe a problem with the mobo?

I've made sure the 2x4 12V Power connector and the 2x12 Main
Power connection are plugged in aswell.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wont he need a SB-E chip to do that.

Yep or send it back to where it was purchased from to see if they will carry it out or see if Gigabyte will do it for you (they are in Milton Keynes).

Or if he's close to me I can do it.

I would agree with this as that chip was released after the chipset so will require a flash the only problem I can see is that the OP will require a Sandybridge CPU in order to flash it if he can't get into the BIOS.

This is right, been in the exact same position as OP and had to stick a SB cpu into my mobo first before sticking my IB cpu in.
