Can i ask how best it is to update my s4?

Some time ago i updated it via odin to baseband version MF8 which i am still on all these months down the line.

Just wondering whats my best way to update.

They REALLY dont need to increase the resolution on their 5" displays any further. Make them proper RGB arrangements and get rid of pentile and make them more efficient. That's all they need to do.

The best way would be the same way :p personally i wouldnt though, I'm staying away from all that knox stuff and sticking to custom roms with knox stripped out.

Thanks for the comparison there :) My only worry for the N5 is the battery. My friend has one and he's really struggling to get a day out of it even with light use. That and the fact that the N5 is out of stock :(

I've got an N5 (upgraded from an S2), and the wife has an S4... both received in the past week so on first impressions:

tbh, I was worried about battery life on the N5 too but so far it's been pretty good - easily lasts the day with fairly heavy use (no doubt there's some variation in manufacturing so maybe i got luky). Having said, that, I don't tend to make many calls. Seems slightly better than the S4, although the missus has been hammering Plants Vs Zombies, so could just be that :D

~£20 for a wireless charger makes it less of an issue.

Both cameras take pretty decent pics, N5 especially with the HDR+ mode, and the photo-sphere thing is pretty cool / gimmicky (just down to kitkat i think so should come to the S4 in time anyway?)... focusing is a bit slow. :(

One area that I think the S4 does win out on though is the camera modes -the S4 has best shot (takes multiple pics), motion pics (where a small area can be animated), smart erase, and a couple of others that put it ahead imho. Alsso the high frame rate and super slo mo video modes are also better than the Nexus.

Haven't ever installed a custom rom so not sure if those complaints will be addressed at some point

Bit annoyed that the N5 doesn't have IR, whereas the S4 does, especially as that's one of the features in 4.4

Best thing has been upgrading to 4g really!

Torn between the s4 and the n5. Worried about the battery on the n5 but a bit loathe to cough up £379 for a near year old phone. Hmmm, maybe wait for the s5 then...

Anyone noticed a change in behaviour on Public Wifi (eg London Underground) networks in 4.3?

In 4.2 if a Wifi required a signin page, it would connect to the network automatically when available then popup a notification to sign in. So it was quite quick to get online at a tube station.

In 4.3 it doesn't auto connect so you have to go to Wifi Settings everytime and manually select the network. Then sign in.

It's a little frustrating if you travel by Tube everyday.

Came out in May so it's barely 6 months old :p

There will be an official 3000+mAh battery sometime soon that will boost battery life.

Don't count on it, it was practically a year after launch that they got their official S3 extended battery out the door!

True - but at least there flexibility compared to the N5.

We'll just have to wait and see when it's released, stupid Samsung, money maker right there.

Ineed, that should be one of the first things released along with the phone as far as I'm concerned.

How is the s4 battery? Will I get a full day out of it?

I guess I'll need a sim adapter coming from an iPhone 5...

It's not bad to be honest, I've never struggled to get a full day out of it unless I've been using it at work to stream music from google and play it through my BT headphones but nothing is going to stand up to that sort of use.

I remember struggling a bit for battery when I had a galaxy nexus. Hoping the s4 battery is better than that. Happy to be going back to an android phone. I've really missed my gnex apart from the iffy battery life.

Currently using latest ProBam ROM. Been using it for a while and liked it, but now I seem to be suffering from random reboots, notifications not working as they should and dropped calls. Might switch to another ROM. Any one have any ideas as to which?
