eBay rules specify that you are only allowed to bid on an item if someone else does first.
This,
Or not.
Was funny though.

+1I'll watch some items just to see how much they go for to get an idea for the market.
I watch items in the hope that it will cause the seller to post a thread about it, which allows me to link their forum account to their Ebay account, thereby improving my stalking ability.
I just put in a max bid for whatever I'm willing to pay, if I win I win, if not, who cares. I just let eBay do the work, I don't buy into all this bid sniping nonsense.+1
I never understand why so many people bid on items way before the auction end, the "real action" normally starts in the last couple of minutes.
I now use a sniper app, set max bid, leave it.
not familiar with the item you are selling. but if i sell some rare collectible item. usually a lot of watchers will wait until the last 30 seconds before the snipers make their move.
as a seller, the auction fee is linked to start price. a lot of shops gets around this by slapping a huge shipping fee on top. this almost acts like a reserve but wittout being charge higher listing cost. (i havent sold anything on ebay for some time, so i cant say for sure this is still doable.)
