Award Winning Fancy Dress

Just another case of the press trying to whip up a public frenzy over something most people couldn't care less about. A few people find it offensive and suddenly the press say whole countries are offended.

NOTHING beats the Maxipad Ninja!

Is that Lady Gaga? :D

I don't understand the outrage, but at the same time I don't understand why anyone would even think of using a terrible event like that as an idea for their costume.

Mostly this.
It is a piece of history. A terrible event, but their costumes are reasonably accurate. They won the contest, so clearly the organisers were not offended.

I am a little unclear how the UK now functions, as any event that might cause implied offense seems to take presidence over actual crimes being committed each and every day that do hurt and damage people mentally and physically.

Seems an odd choice for a fancy dress. They were unlikely to meet anyone who was present at the events, so direct offence is minimal. I assume the papers needed a story.
