No Sound in game in Battlefield4

Only just got my Beautiful big Gold Rush pro MMMMMM!!!!! its BIIIIIGGGG  and that Asus 27 " pb27q is just awsome. Very happpy so far, Battlefield was is the first so far, but sound works fine when i test it, both speakers and headphones.

Just a thought, but I have connected the monitor with the DVI cable, should there be another cable used to enable sound?

Is a DVI to DVI cable as that doesn't carry sound. - Have you got a HDMI cable?

Should have a green/black jack lead that will connect your speakers, this should plug straight into the motherboard.

As Reaper said, DVI doesn't carry sound. The same goes for VGA. You'll need either a HDMI cable, DisplayPort cable or perhaps the monitor doesn't have speakers at all. In which case, you'd need to buy a pair of headphones or speakers.

Thanks Reaper for reply
the hdmi cable that came with the monitor has black ends. my speakers are an ancient creative inspire 7.1 set, no hdmi cons, just jack plugs, and they work when tested through realtek onboard software, but not getting anything else in games or youtube etc, so no sound.. should I change the DVI cable for the HDMI or use both?

ok disconnected the VDI and tried a HDMI cable, lost the picture when I took off DVI and got no picture with HDMI. Tried the audio jack cable in the sound card cons but nothing. checking the manual now, none came with the monitor, strangely

If you have the audio cable plugged in, check in control panel(Sound), make sure that your monitor is selected as your sound output.

Yippeee! thanks all, Just check the settings in realtek control software with HDMI cable on monitor and tried a setting I hadn't before, that was to reset defaults and hey presto there was sound.

just remains to try it out in Battlefield, Rome 11 etc.

Thank you all for your kind help and especially your patience in dealing with Mr Dunderhead (me in case you didn't get it :o )

Cheers all and to the killing fields

Barry

Which card would you recommend? I have an old creative one somewhere which I could fit in my last case. I would like it to work with my current soundlaster 7. t7900 model I think., as they are quite good and PWO.
If that's not possible, what speakers would you think would be a good investment under £100?

Thanks again
