I have the option to go away in December

For the same price it can be one week at slightly nicer place on the ocean or two weeks in a place not on the ocean with a pool

The question is. Would you be bored for two weeks in a place there isn't much to do except sit by the pool and read?

I would be bored after 24hrs at such a place.
Go some where with something to do, however each to their own, no idea how people can do nothing on Holliday.

One week in a nice place is plenty of time to do 'nothing'.

I could sit in the sun with a drink and read or listen to music/podcasts for a week.

Two weeks would be a bit much for me now unless it was a decent resort with activities.

Depends where your going..

If its just a sit around and relax place, a week would be good..

But if its a place where you're going to be rushing around to see everything for a few days, then relax for the remaining few day (of the week) then two weeks.

What's your budget and your maximum allowed time for holiday? You need to find a holiday the same way you spec a computer. You might be able to get a place near the sea for 2 weeks away.

Because it's relaxing, some people are active and like to do things, people like me enjoy doing as little as possible. When I go on holiday I like nothing more than laying on a sun bed overlooking the sea whilst drinking a cocktail and reading a good book. I can quite easily lounge around a holiday resort for two weeks.

It would have to be one week for me, i only go away when the wife wants to. I want to come home after a day or so no matter where i go, holidays just don't interest me.

Well, the ones the wife likes anyway.

People with thousands of posts on an online computer forum saying they like to get out and do things. Irony alert :p

Personally I find work takes its toll on the mind and do enjoy going away for a relaxing week to recharge, but would find two a bit too much.

I truly do not understand it when people go on holiday to sit by the pool all week reading - Some don't even go in the pool at all!

I would always want to go somewhere with something to do.

What in the same way loads of nerds on here can sit in front of the computer or games console and play a game for weeks on end?

Some people have hectic jobs which means that they have very little down time to themselves. On top of that, some really enjoy reading books so being able to catch up on loads of the books you wanted to read but didn't have time for is fantastic for some, add in sunshine, stunning views, drinks service and good food you come home feeling very rested.

Personally I love it all, beach holidays, city breaks, trekking seeing fantastic landscapes, seeing far flung ancient ruins etc. The only thing I can't abide is drunken moron holidays and cruises as I get sea sick.

This exactly, and the people who just get drunk all day every day.

I'm a heavy drinker, I love a drink, but it's just ridiculous to spend your holiday drunk all the time.

I mean a bit of time by the pool, ok, and maybe a good old drink of an evening isn't a bad thing, but it seems like a tragic waste the way they go on.

Depends who you are going with.

I go on a family holiday every year, recently Portugal and Cyprus - 8 of us go and do a few big food shops, chill out around the pool, guys go into town and have a few beers, couple of nights out to a restaurant, me and my dad went paragliding in Cyprus. The rest of the time is spend lazing around the villa and pool.

I started out with 7 days, last year did 9 and this year have booked in for 12 :) (Parents get the villa for 2 weeks) Its surprising how chilling out with music, beer and sun quickly grows on you! Plus this year I will be going 3 weeks after I get back from Ibiza with 12 guys- a nice contrast in holidays

But then by that example, it would be to fly somewhere, and then play games on your laptop by the beach/pool. :p

As much as I like to read/game/laze about the house, if I were to go away somewhere I'm definitely getting out and away from the hotel or wherever. I don't mind a day or 2 lazing by pool/beach, but couldn't do anymore without getting bored.
