Ozil has looked very poor recently, he's had moments in every game but unlike against weaker teams he can so so easily be pressured off the ball. There was a header he went up for but he just kinda half leaned against whoever it was who didn't even have to fight Ozil to step around him and win the header. Unfortunately it's the same Ozil we saw at Real, can be exquisite at times but more often than not is a non entity in the biggest games in all competitions.
That doesn't make him a bad player, if he can help us win 3/4's of the games every season, great, but I think the team would be doing better if Ozil wasn't playing today. Hell 4-4-2 with Bendtner and Giroud maybe they can get something going. I say that because Wilshire isn't available, if he was I'd play him in a game like this ahead of Ozil no question.
I still think we are very lucky Giroud didn't get the penalty given against him, no reason for him to be where he was, woeful touch, played Rooney in behind, then he ran in the box and fouled him. Giroud's touch has been woeful, defensively he did nothing against RVP for the goal, upfront, he's great at little flicks but giving him time on the ball and a 15yard + precision pass to make and he shows where his game is very much lacking.
So next year Arsenal buy Ibra... sorted

Seriously though Ibra would be great in games like this, insane strength, size, ability, he's the kind of battering ram that could even occupy defenders and create space enough for Ozil to be effective. Giroud really hasn't imposed himself on the defence at all, the way a Ibra, Drogba could, which is what you would want in this situation, take some focus and extra marking away from Ozil.
