Yea but you could then overclock on mantle as well. If you started out with 40 fps and gained 8fps through mantle that's a 20% gain. I think the percentage gained is far more important than looking at fps atm. If the 7970 gained 20% performance it would then be running at gtx780 speeds in mantle games yet costs far less.

Or OC for 6-8fps and + 10fps=16-18fps more :)

That,s like saying no game need to look any better than COD because it still outsells everything else.

Most Devs and studios only care about getting money for the least amount of work with a few acceptations, they put only the amount of effort in what they think is needed to make a sale and that varies depending on the game and franchise and the competition, why put effort in to making something run smoother when its going to sell the way it is, until another franchise that is getting a lot of traction runs better and runs on more hardware because of the performance benefits but until then they would rather be stuck in there ways, hey lets add some A.I fish.

For all we know they're not allowed to say much till the conference later this month, just have to wait and see.
