Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9 - 10th November 2013]

Surprise surprise, people go crazy and exaggerate about Arsenal losing a match. Who couldn't see that one coming. The performance wasn't great, but there is no big issue with losing to a team away, that WILL be challenging for the title come the end of the season.

And people already starting to question Ozil? Really? 2 goals and 5 assists in 8 games is great, and I hope he can carry on being that rubbish all season long.

Edit: Well done Man Utd as well, it was a completely deserved win, and stopped Arsenal playing pretty much all the way through.

I always thought that Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere and Giroud and 4 of Arsenal's top players.
I dont understand how anyone can criticize Ozil.
As a Man Utd fan, I wouldnt mind seeing him at Man Utd.

Seeing as most of our 2nd team played Chelsea in the cup right???, Chelsea had £30mill worth of talent on their bench so i wasnt expecting us to beat them in the league cup.

What are you on about?
You had Ozil on the bench, he was £40m odd on his own.

cus he wasnt in the game ozil must be rubbish

look forward to podolski/ox/walcott coming back

still excited at podolski and ozil linking up they really hit it off when they play together for germany

DM is the only one really questioning him as an addition to the squad, everyone else is just pointing out what a terrible game he had and rightly so. Not jumping for that header was pathetic.

Any idea when they're due to return? They should add some much needed pace and width to our team.

I'm nowhere near crisis mode. If anything. that's put more belief in me. Lost a very tight game where around 6 inches between Bendters boot and the ball was the difference between a loss and a draw and still got many players to come back.

Our next game against Soton will be the real acid test. If we get straight back to winning ways, then it will show we are to be taken seriously.

Nobody is saying he is rubbish, He is how ever over rated in my opinion. I have said it since Arsenal were linked with him for that £42 million. He got a hell of a lot of assists in La Liga but he tends to fade away in big games thats why i questioned him. Stats dont count for everything if he cant perform in big games.
He will no doubt win u games u might not have won last season but i called him good not great and most people think he is the second coming since he signed for Arsenal.

The killer thing about buying Ozil is, we didn't need Ozil to spank Norwich, we couldn't beat Utd with Ozil..... 42mil for him was probably Wenger's single biggest mistake.

There aren't many if any games this year I think Ozil was critical to winning, he may have scored or assisted a winning goal but I don't think we don't have other players who were capable of doing the same thing. I don't think he'll make any difference, and may in fact make us worse against the best teams as Wenger wastes a starting spot on him for games like this.

Jesus, I don't think I've ever seen someone so negative as you. Surely this whole thing with you ****ging off Wenger and absolutely any decision he makes is just a wind up, and you're actually a Tottenham fan? It's the only way it makes any shred of sense.

Now I know I shouldn't reply to your posts because you just reply with a load of waffle about how everyone is an idiot and Wenger is really Hitler, and Bendtner is in fact God. I had to though.

Chelsea still in the top after losing to Newcastle & drawing with WBA, JM is definitely charmed.
So many freaky results so far this season, I think the overall standard of the 'lesser' teams (no offence) has improved greatly.

So much knee-jerk ITT. We had a very physically demanding game mid-week and half the team were ill last night if some of the pre-game reports were correct, with Mert being bad enough that he couldn't play. We were sub-par but it was hardly a crushing defeat. I'll take where we are now over where we were last season at this point.

Let's be fair, he's not been at Arsenal long enough for people to judge his big game performances, and at Madrid people tried saying that Ronaldo was rubbish in the big games!

I think it says a lot when Mourinho says Arsenal have bought Madrids second best player.

Oh look, the bipolar Arsenal fans are out in force again. A couple of bad games doesn't make Ozil a waste of money, a choke artist, or anything of the sort. The whole team had a bad game and if we're honest it wasn't a particularly good match in general.

I thought Manchester United v Arsenal was the best game on television today from the Premier League and I thought that was a dull, uninspiring game :o.

If wenger buys a striker I think we are still looking good, today was a disappointment but beating Dortmund midweek was epic!

As for DM saying Ozil was a waste, lol just lol

You know exactly what im on about, dont pretend you dont.

Wow one £40mill player does not equal a squad made of £30mill worth of talent, thats the difference i was making. Lets admit it that you lot have a much stronger bench than what we have at the moment, anyone with half a brain cell can see that even City have a stronger bench than us as well.

Anyhow as Cas has said its not a huge loss to us, we are still top by 2pts although would have been nice to have kept that 5 pts gap but meh looking at the game, we werent really in it...Ozil as great as he has been was having an off day and im sure he will have his off games now and then. Made me laugh when the commentators said something about him hitting the ground running when he first played but has done nothing of note lately...similar to a certain player at Chelsea;). He made a difference in the game against Dortmund and has made some influences in games before that so cut him some slack FFS.

As for DM?? just please go away and stop posting your utter rubbish...when we win you dont show up but yet when we lose you are there to put your boot into Wenger lol.

The only positive I can take from the match is that for once we didn't get spanked and were in the game for the whole time. Having no wide men hurt us today. It was only till gnabry came on that we started stretching their defence. **** it.

Swansea vs Stoke I bet everyone would have moaned about being on TV yet it's usually them kind of games turn out to be exciting, the top teams + Spurs are always boring as hell to watch.

Part of the reason we've done so well so far is even when Ozil hasn't been in a game much, the opposition have had 2-3 players going after him - because he's Mesut Ozil - which has provided space for others (i.e. Ramsey) to exploit. Given where we are at the moment vs the start's we've had the last couple of years, I'd say it was money well spent. As above, everyone was poop today bar Sagna (must be virus resistant) by their own standards and we only lost by one set-piece goal and still created a couple of good chances. It's not like we usually get anything at OT anyway and our away record has otherwise been great. We just beat Liverpool and Dortmund on the trot so 2/3...
