Flashed GTX 770 bios to my 680

Just done this today and it works fine. GPU-Z shows the card as a 680 , but all speeds have changed and voltage applied under boost is now 1.2v.

NV Boost 2.0 (main reason for testing) appears to work too and overclocking is fine with EVGA Precision as always.

I then modded the bios file to change the memory speed to 1701 (3402), as that is the pre tested stable speed and the card is still on stock MSI reference cooler.

With a modded fan curve in Precision, I have tested to 1320 GPU speed so far. Awaiting water cooling now to push to max, although not expecting too much more.

Any questions please ask :)

Well done Bito, been thinking about that for my windforce 680 oc, I recon it could take it considering its reputation from the previous owner.

I don't think I would want to try this if I had a GTX 680

There is enough problems people are having using 320.18 drivers, doing this is far more risky.

Thanks goodl. The only thing to consider is the memory clock and if your card can take it. Even that can be tweaked, before flashing.

Kaapstad, I agree that it is a risky business ! I certainly don't advocate all and sundry to do this. Just wanted to let you guys know that it is possible.

I could get 1306, even on the original bios, but the gpu speed under nvidia boost 1 would fluctuate much more. With the 770 bios, it is locked steady at 1320, using boost 2.0.

It definately shows up in benchmarks, but would be unnoticeable in gaming. I just wanted to give it a try. Another plus is that the card uses lower voltages at idle, but 1.2v at boost speeds.

I did try modding the original 680 bios, with voltage at 1.212v, as has been floating around the web, but if you look at the core speed, you will definately see it bouncing around and not at a stable max core setting.

I have not yet tried for higher speeds than 1320. The card is indeed a standard MSI GTX680.

Just found a bios for my evga 680's ftw 4gb cards going to flash them both. from all the posts I have read on other forums the 770's bios works much better.

will flash once i'm off work and post my results

Very brave; I hope your card is 4gb too :)

Is there no Bios editor out there? I thought KGB worked; surely you'll then get the setting you want rather than risking using bios's from other cards?

Update flashed my EVGA 680 FTW 4GB with the EVGA 770 FTW 4GB found here http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/144745/evga-gtx770-4096-130731.html

Glad to report flashed with out any problems

before the flash cards in SLI would do 1150 on the cores and 3200 (6400) on the memory any higher than this and I would get artifacts

after the flash 2280 on the cores 3503 (7006) on the memory also noted slightly lower temps whilst idle and gaming only a few C but a bonus

1280 most likely.
