** LOOK WHAT I'VE FOUND: SAMSUNG 971D MATTE AT BLOODY SILLY PRICE!! **

What makes this monitor better then a Dell UltraSharp U2713HM ??

Would there be any good reasons for me to upgrade from my U2713HM to one of these..
Could that even be classed as an upgrade

I had the Dell, RMA'd it due to terrible backlight bleed. The 970D I have now is in a different class, probably the best thing I've ever bought for my PC, it gives me great pleasure now to use my rig, it's a fabulous screen. The 971 or 970 would be great, I have no light issues so the glass screen 970 IMO is better for me, and looks lovely.

Gibbo - Any chance the 970D could magically appear at the same price as the 971D.....please?!! :)

Would be a dealbreaker for me. At the current price, although it's good, it's a wallet breaker!

+1

I missed out on the earlier deals :( the 970D would be an instant buy now at the same price!

Any chance Gibbo? I have an order in my basket i'd love to add the 970D to it :(

The power cable is indeed under the bottom packaging.

So now i have this thing how do i get the 1440 to work without going out shopping again?

I have the 7990 with the mini-display ports,a mini display port to dvi adaptor that came with the card and various hdmi dvi display port cables.Only thing i dont have is a mini display port to display port cable....Works fine at 1080 with the mini adaptor and dvi. but cant select any higher. Do i have to have the mini to normal displayport to get the 1440?

Says its connected via display port in the properties if that makes a differance

Phone OcUK, best check with them.:)

Well just lifted the bottom packaging out looking in again empty, turned the packaging bottom up, you guested it stuck to the underside.

Face Palm, lol to much in a hurry. :o

Dunno who the biggest fool in is in this, prolly me.Still made me chuckle anyway.

Rang ocuk said i had the mini dspto dvi adaptor,(which came with the 7990),with a dvi lead, connected to the monitor but cant get 1440. Few questions and answers and gives me samsungs number.

Much cable messing/pc swapping/climbing over the back of the desk etc goes on. (usual stuff when the pc isnt behaving). Basically seems i need to get a a mini dsp to dsp cable.Cool, not expensive...having been told dsp is the way to go im good with that.So i take off the adaptor plug the dvi into the card and tadaaa 1440:rolleyes:

Takes a hairy **** plumber to sort out the tech support:D

Will buying that displayport cable make any difference whatsoever to the picture quality or is the dual dvi good enough?

I believe you need either Dual-link DVI or DisplayPort to run at 2560x1440p. Either will give the same picture quality. The only advantage with DisplayPort is that it is a bit more compact.

They should give you some sort of clue about the power cable being at the bottom.

Damn... just had to go on a conf call... had the monitor in my basket all ready to push the button once I had checked my bank account... call finished and the monitor had gone up £100.

Oh well.. its there for someone else now... I can't afford the extra, great monitor or not!

I'll find an alternative elsewhere ('cos most of them are cheaper elsewhere before you ask).. shame.

Hi there

I've had a look around, the best price I can find with stock is £622 delivered, I have therefor reduced our price to £599 inc. VAT plus shipping so should still work out cheaper even with shipping. :)
