Hi guys, so yeah, basically I'd like to know if it's possible for me to immigrate to Canada, I've lived in Canada before when I was 15 and came back to the UK when I was 18 to study but I don't think we ever finished the process of getting citizenship. First managed to get there because my mother had met someone online and later married him. Anyway, I regret leaving Canada in so many ways and I would really like to know if I have much chance of getting back there.

My mum is not longer with the same partner but I do believe they are still married.

I also have not had much luck on the education front, I did three years at college but failed some modules on my HND so I don't have a full certificate just a list of achieved modules.

I really don't think I qualify through the skilled worker scheme but I was wondering if there was any other alternative, thanks.

Should have stayed in Canada! I think you are going to have to work hard to get the skills necessary to emigrate there.

You won't qualify for the skills visa so a permanent move is unlikely but you should be able to go for a year on a working holiday visa.

If his mum is still married to the Canadian is there not something that can be done there? If he is willing to help of course.

Just get a flight over, bin your passport and tell Canadian immigration that you're from a war-torn country and want to claim asylum. Seems legit. :)

Yeah, I'm not sure if them still being married counts for much now I'm an adult. I've been talking to the person she's married to and he seems to be under the impression that I could be sponsored.

Am I missing something? it looks like that's only for people that want to come to the UK. I want out :P

You could apply for an IEC working holiday visa which is for a year (and can be extended for another year now I believe), I did this via BUNAC but there are other companies who will assist you or you can do it yourself if you prefer.

Have a look on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website - it'll tell you the requirements for permanent immigration but from the information you've given you'd struggle to demonstrate sufficient evidence for a skilled worker visa and unless you've got experience in a particular, and in demand, field then it's not going to be easy for you to circumvent that issue.

In your case it might be best to go for a year or two and see if you can get an employer interested in sponsoring you - they'll normally need a labour market opinion as well which effectively states that you are doing a job that they cannot fill within the local labour market, that's difficult to prove if you don't have specialist skills or education. I'm not 100% sure but I rather think your previous residence there and the fact that your mother's ex-partner are not going to assist much in your quest.

I dont get the hype of Canada tbh, I`d pick UK over Canada any day... Have you seen their houses? They build a terrace in a middle of a field with half of it being brick and other out of american boxes and they sell them for 200-300k pounds../

As said previously, your best/only option is an IEC visa which you should be able to get no problem which gives you 2x1 year. Once you're there, fingers crossed you work for someone who will sponsor you for permanent residency

Edit: that said, having lived there for three years previously may be a big help, as the total adds up to 5 years

Can't you find some hot Canadian women online? I bet most are gagging for it with English guys. Go over there, give her a good pumping, get her pregnant, excuse to get married then, sorted.

I think that's what a few Eastern European and Turks do over here?
