Sony obviously didn't intend to put these features in, and the only thing that would change that is seeing the consumer reaction.

I can't imagine implementing these things is a quick job, and would possibly only come in (if at all) for the first major firmware revision, not an incremental one.

This is my thinking too. Such a shame. I use the PS3 as a media server all the time. Guess I'll have to have them both plugged in.

I think it was Kodak who did several years back, selling a new camera for at least £100 under retail. A lot of people on here bought it as I recall, and they honoured the price as a gesture of goodwill.

I wonder what Sony's plan for Firmware updates will be this time. Will they stick with lots of little updates or quarterly major updates.

What did every one else prefer?

I honestly didn't mind the minor smaller updates tbh. At least with PS4 it will now download it in the background even when you're playing a game which is nice.

They had to change the update system I think, I reckon it was one of the biggest issues most PS3 owners had. It was sooo slow to download and install updates. It was one area the Xbox 360 was miles ahead in.

Oh yeah for sure. I mean it was slightly improved with ps+ and downloading whenever you set it to, but even that I don't think they could have gotten away with for next gen.

In the days before the hordes of morons who post obvious pricing errors on HotUK Deals etc. got the internet lots of companies honoured pricing errors.

Was never going to be honoured, they are struggling enough as it is without taking massive losses on a new console.
