Worth upgrading from a 4 to a 5?
Worth upgrading from a 4 to a 5?
does the nexus 5 have a flash counter? thinking of rooting but need to know i can unroot with no adverse effects at a later date
Honestly I don't think so. The tech in the 4 is still very good and while the 5 is aimed slightly higher than the 4 was (as in, the tech level standard it was built to), it's still a fantastic device.Worth upgrading from a 4 to a 5?
hangouts is doing my head in.
sent a message to a contact. will not send as SMS. just sends as a message via hangouts.
problem is that i know that the contacts doesnt have hangouts and wont be getting the message.
why have they not got sms as a priority. i absolutely hate hangouts, dont want a third party app either.
is there no way to just set hangouts to only send via sms?
BS Player. I stream MKV's from my NAS to my TV using that
It also has an excellent interface for local content.
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give it a go!
Any idea if the paid app is worth the investment??
*edit* not a great start - I've just tried to view an MP4 file stored locally and while there is sound, the picture is just black!?!?!?
so what interesting things can be done with root?
(apart from putting custom rom on it)
i like the idea of the hide soft keys app, that looks good

adblocking apps can be installed from third party sites.
titanium backup can be used to backup apps (paid for version).
custom kernels can be used to enhance battery life, stop the processor from overheating (undervolting) therefore causing throttling, etc, therefore enhancing speed/performance. also a host of other changes to the kernel make the phone smoother, faster, more efficient and therefore improve everything, even the screen by using calibrated settings in the kernel.
Is there a hide soft keys solution yet? Auto hide soft keys app hasn't updated for N5 as yet, has it?
Not that I've seen. You can switch between the SMS\Hangouts while in a hangout. Just tap the persons name at the top of the screen, this will bring a drop down where you can select SMS. Or, you could try removing the E-Mail address from the contact entry, this will force Hangouts to SMS,
