Hello All,

Would like some spec advice about a build which I intend to undertake around Xmas time or later this month. Requirements are as follows:

  • Must be able to play upcoming games such as BF4 at 1920*1080 at reasonable FPS but not insane
Must have enough Ram to handle running multiple VM's at one time
Decent case but nothing overly flashy/good cooling but fairly quiet
No need to worry about OS disk, already have access to Windows 8.1 installs, no need to include peripherals either

If one of you fine fellas would come up with a list would be much appreciated.

Cheers

The 520w will handle the card perfectly fine, it's a great PSU.
If you want to be that extra bit safe, the 620W is £20 more.

What's the reason you want to switch the case, for the price it's fantastic!

May do that, been out of the case game for a while so BitFenix are a bit new on myself, was looking at a Corsair initially however on closer examination it does look pretty decent.

What would be the Nvidia equivalent of the 7970 out of interest?

GTX 680/770 are the equivalents I imagine. The 770 being just a tad faster than the 680, however I favour the AMD currently for the mantel support whether it will be make or break for their cards it does seems promising.

Bitfenix are a great brand, the Ronin is superb for the price, all the features of £90+ cases, lovely side window and good aesthetics.

The 280X is a 7970 basically.

Mobo comes with a cooler to OC the i7K (OEM means shorter warranty and no stock heatsink but it is cheaper). 330R is a silenced case so might suit you well.

Best of luck with the build we look forward to seeing what you settle on

BitFenix have been around for a few years now, all started by ex Coolermaster people.

The Ronin is a fantastic case for the money.

I can tweak Reapers spec a bit,

Thanks for your suggestions, will do some research into the ronin I think. Any advice from anyone on coolers? Im open to the suggestion of all in one WC's.

No worries fella.

As I said the D3HP comes with a decent ~£30 heatsink anyway for free to start you off. The refurb'd H100s are ~£45, the 240mm rad will fit in the Ronin or the 330R. The Bitfenix Ghost would also take one, I just prefer the 330R as it's an enclosed design (ie not an open top)

The Ronin is a great case and has good cable management and plenty of room for water cooling in the roof.

If you should ever have an issue with a BitFenix product just give me a holla.

I may be able to find the money for an H80i or H100 I think, would be nice to have something with as good cooling potential. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
