so just to confirm, it's the 780Ti OC that's faster than a stock 290X?

No bud. The 780Ti is faster than the 290X (as shown in the original post with all those TechPowerup bench results).

I wouldn't worry though, as your 290X is a stonking card and nearly beats my Tomb Raider bench :p I am pretty sure with maturer drivers, you will leave me standing :D

Pay no heed to the benchmarks brother, your 290X performs fantastically and that is all that matters.

I love my 290X and won't be changing, the 780Ti does look a fantastic card though.

I'm happy enough to just get my 290X underwater and clock the crap out of it;)

Water does help. As you can see from my screenie, temps of 42c make overclocking easier :)
