iPad travel chargers? £35? REALLY?

Just got back from the Apple store, have a business meeting due on Wednsday in Amersterdam. Need to take iPads for video demos.

I see [a well known auction site] selling just the pin portion of the charger for a few quid. But Apple only sells the world kit (complete with cable and brick) for £35.

Don't really want to cut corners and take a risk with unnamed third party accessories. Does anyone know if the pin attachment of the charger have any circuitry/electrics in it or is it just simple wiring inside? (therefore OK to use no-name third part product).

It'll be simple wiring, the only harm the 3rd party will do is if it's cheap components in side.

However you don't get the SUPA AWESOMZ APPLZ STIKAZ

So it's just wiring and they should work the same whether they're for 10W or 122W bricks as there isn't any electrics there?

Also on the auction site many people are marketing them as macbook adapters, some as ipad adapters, some are only mentioning ipad 1,2,3. So I don't know if the sellers are completely unaware that they work on every device or if they are built specific to each device.

To be fair to Apple, all major companies charge pretty hefty prices for their chargers, and Apple's chargers are the absolute pinnacle in terms of internal component quality.
 
Well will you be able to charge using USB? yes it takes a few hours but if you can charge overnight, that would last the day wouldn't it?
 
Personally id just buy it - especially if its for work (cant they just pay for it?)

I bought a USB extension cable for £1 and used it to extent my official apple charge cable. One night it stopped charging my phone and the power brick was red hot. It burned something out and ended up costing me a new Apple charge cable
