Camera Phones

They're great! convenient, portable, quick to use. I would want to go to carrying around a separate camera around with me now.

But I do agree with this:

went to a concert the other day and the number of people constantly on their phones, recording and on the web was insane. If your going to go to see something actually watch it, instead of seeing it through a screen... your never going to re-watch the video, the quality is invariably horrible!

I had exactly the same feelings at the weekend when I went to the Alton Towers fireworks. There were 10s of people who I could see with their phones out recording it. How about just give your arm a rest from holing your phone, relax and enjoy the show.

It is usually done when someone sees someone they think is peculiar in some way, so takes a photo of them using their phone.

Saw a guy walk past the other day. He had his SLR/bridge camera held by his chest but had the shutter button held down. Looked like he was taking pictures on the sly. Seemed a bit odd.

People who take ipads to restaurants wind me up

Why?

When away from home (on business) I take my iPad with me when going to eat. Between courses it allows me to look at local things to do and places to go.

I even do it at home, but that is normally because I have work to do and emails to send, so why not send them between courses?

Or use ipads or tablets to take pictures... I mean, really?!

Have to say I love to hate them. The constantly connected nature of them and the fact that there is no escape from them. However at the same time they are useful, for when you do need to look something up or if you want to take a picture of something. I don't like their intrusive nature, but like the enhancement they can bring at the same time.

I never used to take pictures as I could never be bothered to take my phone out and about - now though I'm able to capture some moments which I'd have missed out.

As said previously, they're wonderful things that can be used to capture things that you would otherwise miss.

Also very handy for taking impromptu pictures of funny looking people, massive fatties, midgets, really ugly people etc etc.

I mean for a couple going for lunch and the mrs sat there the whole time on the ipad, seams rude. On your own out for a bit of lunch I can accept but not that, I hate all that when you're out with ya mates and there's one person on the phone all the time.

They're very handy but I don't think it's the phones fault, it's the people that use them excessively is what's annoying. It's one of the reasons I don't use Facebook because a small portion of my retarded friends decide to take pictures of every and any activity and post it on Facebook.

OP you want to go drinking at the Jamaican Eating House on Cowley Road, Oxford then. It's owned by a big scary Rasta who believes that cameras steal your soul. Anyone who makes the mistake of trying to take a photo in there doesn't do it twice.

Mobile phones are a social phenomenon that our society hasn't really got to grips with yet. So what if they are taking photo's though, just forget about. Do you ask people not to look at you?

Poignant video that was linked to earlier... so true.

When I was at uni I was constantly texting and going out with mates was kinda pointless, as I was staring at the screen for half the time. Luckily, I broke up with that chick lol.

With the advances in lens technology there is no need to stick it right in his face. You could stalk and photo the OP from a massive distance. He wouldn't even know you were there.

Going to be a little pedantic here but it is the lens that allows you to zoom in more than the sensor.

Taking a photo from the top of the Emptire state building with a 24mm lens compared to a 400mm lens, when trying to zoom in with the 24mm after the photo is taken won't allow you to see much.

You are ultimately are held back from the resolution of the lens that it can resolve.
