290/X or 7990

You'd get about ~170 for the 7970.
Get an R9 290, the 290X will be entirely pointless over a 290 for you.

Cheers for the input, but would be more helpful if you explained why it would be pointless.

I get that the 290 is better value for money, for not much less performance (6%), so it is a good option. It would play on my mind though that it's not the full fat hawaii.

Doesn't look like you will get it today matey. :(

I think I shall just put these poor people out of their misery and just tell them what it is.

I'm open to offers for the info. :p:D

Quiet you or i send the boys round to urinate through your letterbox.

Ash's hygiene is going to be a bit of an issue if he's making that many deliveries before clocking off!

If my usual DPD driver is anything to go by (hello Alan) then i will have to disinfect the box before i can touch it.

The Lt is standing at the door chain smoking.

LT quit smoking two years ago. Wife beater on the other hand...

It's so disheartening when a parcel doesn't arrive :(

Ain't it just.

The 290 and 290X are very close, that difference will be less (Probably nil) with the small bottlenecking you'll get (There's difference in reviews with 7970's between an FX83 and i5/i7 in tons of games,) in the majority of games.

If you got an R9 290X, in games my i5 and R9 290 will probably out bench you.

There is no way Matt would go for a 7990 form 2x7950's which have higher performance in terms of fps and overclockability.

I reckon 2x290's if hes feeling flush or just a single 290 if hes feeling the recession. :)

Any bets?

If it was me I'd get a third 7950 for nearly 200fps in BF4.

I'd be interested to see the difference if I do go down that route.

I'm reluctant to move onto windows 8 though, which is also holding performance back a bit. I wish the matrix platinums were still up at £240 :(

Still though, I'd like to get the most out of my 120hz 1080 monitor.
