Shame you don't have a lighter with you mate. That's always the best bet. You can open a bottle with a piece of paper... It involves folding it numerous times... I'm sure there's a video of how you do it on YouTube

You can do it with keys. Just lever the top off.

I can use my thumb by pushing up really hard.

Failing that:

Grip the top of the bottle neck firmly in one hand.
Grab largest coin available or keys.
Place coin between thumb and bottle cap.
And lever bottle cap off.

If this isn't working you're not gripping the bottle firmly enough.

This is the best way. You can actually do it with a opened bottle but it's tricky.

Just about any oblong shaped object will do.

Call the front desk and have them bring up a bottle opener. You'd be surprised at the inventory of stuff that they can loan you.

This is an essential life skill, it's easy to open them with any handheld object with a solid edge in the way you have described.

This, anything with a solidish edge can be used. From a car key, to a spoon, to a pen. It's all about leverage.

I wasn't getting anywhere with keys, but have just managed to open a 660ml bottle of Cobra with a teaspoon.

I just put my left hand around the neck of the bottle and used it as a fulcrum against the flat handle of the teaspoon being a lever. Came straight off

You can do this with a piece of paper too. Just fold it tightly enough times. Pretty much anything will do.
