Famous OcUK motor in the local paper!

Powerstation for an RR day? :D

A carpark in the middle of nowhere? Sounds like the best place! I'd have been there but haven't got time - need to RR the new car when I get chance.

Can't see much at night though. Better off getting a pub on your side and you can then meet up during the day, somewhere there is food and drink and actually see the cars.

Agreed - but where's possible for these types of meets, where a large volume of people and their cars can go, rev the car, lsiten to the exhausts and generally talk about their cars which won't effect others around them?

What's that like? I've only tried the traditional advocaat.

Kinda chewy :p

Why would you want to be so anti social as to rev your car?

Only the ducks would really be concerned at this pub:

They give us the whole area, including the long stretch of grass to park on, which it is often overflowing onto. In return they get a good amount of custom including many that sit down and eat. Their other customers use the carpark out front.

I still go to "cruises" when they're on and close enough. Dont generally get involved with all the idiots being idiots, but its a good setting to meet with friends and chat about cars.

We generally have meets in pub car parks also, but can sometimes be found parking on the street...

I used to love Sundays. Roast dinner, wash the car and then shoot off to Festival Park for a few hours. Never went before the days of the speed humps but I hear it used to be entertaining.

Would rather meet at a pub now and discuss all thing car related over a beer and some grub :D

I'm not talking about the need to rev up a 1.2 Corsa... But those cars which are generally nice cars - what's wrong with hearing how they sound? You're obviously a car fan, else you wouldn't be in motors... But what's better than hearing a nice sounding engine start up, hear it tick over and maybe a fly by?

Those were the days. Loved going out for a blast, pub meal and a chat. Nothing wrong with meeting up in places like the op though.

Once got blocked into the local McDs as I parked up between all the local lads (most of which I knew) to go in for some horrible food. They were asking for everyone's details and wouldn't let anyone go. The thing was, there was never any trouble or even mess for that matter. Everyone fairly civilized on any night not just that one. complete waste of time, but I can see how it as seen as uncivilised and irritating.

Not been since i was 20, but 'i hear' it was awesome fun racing round the roads minus speed bumps, it was a mini racetrack with a roundabout at each end ;)

Wouldn't dream of going ourdays, imho i think it's a bit tragic if you get past 25 and still want to hang out after dark in retail parks.

Keep it to proper meets with some class imho.

I went back then, never in my own car though, just jumped in a mates Escort Van, with a Cosworth engine in it. :D

He was nearly 40, but thoroughly loved racing up and down that hill showing all the boy racers up at the time.

To be honest I found it far more fun when he'd pull up at a set of lights next to a Ferrari, Porsche or something else exotic and absolutely murder them, some of the looks, people just could not believe a van could move so quick.

Agreed the pub meets, drive out are much better, more fun, more grown up.

I think it is why the members of the Ikon club who did the photo shoot are pretty annoyed as they tend to meet in a pub / working mans car park, then chill out in the pub with a few drinks, game of pool, darts, chit chat etc and do a lot of charity fund raising, but the newspaper article is not what they discussed at all.

The OcUK meets, are the best way of doing, find a venue, find a pub and a decent road, make a day of it. :)
