*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

i've got a PS4 for the long haul like I did with my PS3. I stuck it out with PS3 and it finally came up trumps with some top games. I fully expect the PS4 to be the same.. Great console iffy launch games, last time it was iffy everything with Sony..

I'm sure once naughty dog etc get some games out for PS4 we'll see some good times for PS4. i'll be happy enough with what i've got on the 29th anyhow.

I am fairly happy overall -the kit is obviously impressive, killzone is visually impressive, and most of my gaming initially will actually be COD and BF anyway!

Can't wait for killzone tbh never was a fan of it in single player but I loved multiplayer so much. Brilliant classes and gear and awesome game modes

Is assassins creed 4 OK to play if you haven't played any of the previous games?

i've always found the assassins creed games to be complicated to understand, reason after attempting to play the second in the series, I ditched it and went and played the first game then the second, and recently played the third as it was on PS+ some months ago.

As for AC4 I'm not sure, some might say you can, but playing the first one did get quite a bit of the background that helped with the second, yet the third game. Well I reckon I could have played this without playing the first two..

Im going straight from Brotherhood with this one. I mised Revelations and so skipped 3 because of it. But from what I understand 4 is more stand alone and the review scores impressed.

Was really hoping Killzone would turn out great but it seems good rather than amazing. Really debating whether or not to keep my PS4 when it arrives. I might just sell it for cost and come back when there are some better games out. The remote play looks great and ATM that's keeping me in two minds about it. BF4 in bed will be epic.

Some of my favorite games of this gen have been reviewed as average. 7 or 8 is the magic number for me as those type of games tend to be more daring and less all things to all people.

Don't know why you would cancel at this point other than needing money for other things! You will only want to buy one again in a couple of months when the next wave of games are out!

My PS4 order is all sorted. Ill be getting PS4, 2 controllers, PSN year subscription and Camera. Game wise I've chosen to go with Killzone and Assassin's Creed. Three days off work at launch as well :D.

I'm getting almost the same (Gamer pack bundle with 2x controllers, camera and Killzone) with BF4 and AC4 ontop. I have a Vita and PS3 so I've already got my PSN subscription sorted... still disappointed that Watch Dogs got pushed back. Roll on the 29th (and four days off work :D)

A lot of my favorite things in all media, all genres gets rated low by most. I just completely ignore reviews by companies and consumers.

Hell, one of my favorite movies of all time, Eden Log is pretty much universally panned by ALL but I love that film.

Personally I am waiting for the slim version to come out. By then there should be enough good games out to warrant a purchase. There is just nothing at launch that can justify the cost IMO. My PC has a nvidia 470 in it, which is pretty old now, and plays just about anything with decent visuals and I use an Xbox controller.

I always hated assigning scores to games as a reviewer as I often felt games were never quite that straightforward. Games often have certain mechanics in that will really appeal to some people, but that others will hate. The Dead Rising games are a good example. I loved the save system and thought it added to the game, while a lot of others hated it. It's why I often tried to stay factually accurate in my reviews, as it would give people a good idea of what to expect when they bought it.

I often find games that reviewed bad i like, and games that got good reviews I didn't like so much. I just finished playing Remember Me as it was free on PS+, all the reviews were pretty bad so I would never have bought it, but I actually liked it.

And I also currently have Metal gear Rising Revengeance, which reviewed much better, but I don't like as much.

its all down to personal taste.. Each has their own opinion what is good and what isn't. Reviews are just the opinion of the person that played it etc..

but I do sometimes wonder how much $$ passes to reviewers as I fail to see how some games get the reviews they get.

Anything that gets a 7 or above I guess is worth considering if you like the genre. Beyond two souls was recently reviewed, most gave it a 7 yet I thought the game was more a 9.

Took me a while to convince self to keep preorder, but suddenly find self questioning that again.

Just suddenly wondering if is worth 500 to me. Got good PC and can get all games I want bar Killzone on that.

But your tastes are just weird :D

Haha I like been a bit different! :D

You can just imagine how most triple A development goes now. Now im not saying any names.... So Ubisoft dont get paranoid BUT (music voice) it goes a little something like this;

Good game recipie;

1: Has it good graphics?

2: Has it got an angry looking main character?

3: Is it open world?

4: Has it loads of filler missions that pad the story out without adding much?

5: Has it a multi player portion that will capture the Call of Duty crowd?

= Instant 90% plus game that will sell millions.

BUT will anyone think of it once the moment had passed? Will it be beloved for years after... doubtful.

Remember games where the main character started out weak and a leaf could kill you? And the gameplay mechanics and your skills would develop over time? No publisher would ever go with that slow burn approach now as a lot of gamers want 100% instant gratification within the first hour of gameplay. Makes me a sad Panda :(

Thank god. I was really really feeling like I would miss out on something great only having a pc and xbox one but thankfully it is now certain that by the time you can easily walk into a store and buy a ps4 off the shelves there still won't be a great title to play yet. Driveclub will probably be my entry point and by then we could be looking at a reduction in price or a free bundled game due to lack of games. It happened with Wii U. Still having said that Forza 5 and Ryse may also get 5-7 out of 10!
