*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Searched "update" and "download" on the last couple of pages and didn't see anything, so... http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps4/pc_update/index.htm.

You can apparantly download the day 1 update to the PS4 now and then just apply it via USB to save you having to do it on release day when the server will most likely be jammed. The above link is the US version but includes a step by step. For the EU ones see here.

theres never a standout game on release...the release date of the console determines the time they can lavish on a game

buy any console on release day and you get mediocre games forced upon you as you will have nothing left to play otherwise

I'm getting almost the same (Gamer pack bundle with 2x controllers, camera and Killzone) with BF4 and AC4 ontop. I have a Vita and PS3 so I've already got my PSN subscription sorted... still disappointed that Watch Dogs got pushed back. Roll on the 29th (and four days off work :D)

I did consider Battlefield but thought two shooters on launch might be a bit much for me :).

Driveclub will probably be my entry point and by then we could be looking at a reduction in price or a free bundled game due to lack of games.

Lol No.

1. Drive Club is due out EARLY next year, there probably won't be a price drop until 2015

2. there won't be a lack of games for long. PS4 has the most games in development out of all of the consoles by quite some margin

Sony will still shift consoles even with the lack of killer games, the reviews of the games at launch are not awful (apart from Knack) so just think when an uncharted type killer game is released?

Like said, the PS4 has the most games in development, the lack of games won't last long, and it won't be long till there are some serious must have PS4 titles.

Give it a few more months. I can see Ps4 being a very popular gaming machine, much quicker to mature then the Ps3 ever did.

He says it worse than COD, even though he claims KZ is full of cliches. So he's either never played Ghosts(which is the same as every other bloody COD) or he just has a major problem with KZ and maybe Sony & PS4.

I was always gobsmacked by their review of the last of us.

Always knew Polygon where bias but the last of us was just like - erm what..??

Never trust this site, well not for anything Sony related. Killzone is a take it or leave it heavy shooter, you either love it or hate it, but to compare or say its worse then COD - well says it all really.

Well each console will have COD/BF/Fifa from the start any other games would struggle to compete with that

Very happy to see this about Killzone MP

Fantastic multiplayer maps diversify the action
Customizable warzones keep online play fresh

Absolutely. Where Sony went wrong with the PS3, (namely price and controller) they've corrected.

Microsoft on the other hand, seem to have dumb decision makers running the shop over there. 20% slower according to the specs, 20% bigger and clunkier, and 20% more expensive. Now i've just found out you can't even stand the thing up.

I am almost certain that I am going all digital now... just going to make it hard waiting to play my first game as I wait for it to download!! I am one of the few that was annoyed when Microsoft did the big u-turn

Still too expensive to go digital for me. No way am I paying £60 for a game.

What did Madden review at?

I knew all the release games would be crap, they always are... its why I hated the 360 at launch, the Vita and now I will hate this until MLB rolls around no doubt.

Still, if everyone else is buying one... then so am I *stamps feet* :D

Why? It's a blatant waste of money, and there's evidently no performance gains to be had seeing as the games install to the HDD anyway.

For every four download games you buy, you'd have had enough money to buy a fifth if you'd gone with a disc instead.

It was advised to not stand the xbox one up, for reasons I haven't researched much into. I find the xbox one has got some great sounding launch titles, but i also find the whole console to be very unappealing to me, the PS4 will compliment my gaming laptop quite nicely.

I'm going for Ps4 for the long haul as I've previously mentioned. Generally Microsoft as a PC gamer have aggravated me somewhat over the years with their Games for Windows live program which has now recently shut down, however I did own an xbox 360 for a while and as much as I'd like to pick up an xbox one later on for titles like Forza I don't see it happening purely down to the fact I just see the PS4 being a very enjoyable gaming console alongside my gaming laptop.

time will tell, I don't think the 20% performance difference will be much of an issue. Developers will work ways around this, I can see xbox one becoming more home user for the family gaming, whereas PS4 will certainly capture the true gamer, the PS eye isn't going to get anywhere near the xbox one kinect, the kinect for xbox one is way ahead of Sony and PS eye /camera - from what I've read.

Each system has its own strengths and weaknesses.

That's a pretty bold statement to make.

If we go on what we know is currently in development the lists look like this:

PS4:

There are currently 164 games on this list (11 of which have been confirmed as free-to-play).

Exclusive = 30 (2 of these are F2P)
Console exclusive and/or timed = 66/+1 (8/+1 of these are free-to-play)
Multiplatform = 67

XB1:

There are currently 77 games on this list.

Exclusive = 15
Console Exclusive/+Timed = 8/+3
Multiplatform = 52

These do not include unannounced games ( So no Naughty Dog or Sony Santa Monica etc)

Anyone watching gamespot?

There doing remote play with a ps4 and a vita on BF4... im impressed how BF4 runs on the vita lol it looks pretty good.
