Hi there

As our sales of the Apple AMD cards has being pretty good, were also offering the Apple flagship 27" Thunderbolt monitor too.

Please bear in mind our price includes an additional 2yr AppleCare warranty, giving a total of 3 years, as standard Apple only give you one year warranty and yes they have the small print to make it legal too.

Apple MC914B/A 27" Professional Thunderbolt Widescreen LED Monitor with 3yr Applecare Warranty (MF224M/A) @ £899.99 inc VAT

Thunderbolt I/O technology lets you move data between your devices and your computer with unprecedented speed. With two channels of 10-Gbps throughput in both directions, it’s up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0 and up to 12 times faster than FireWire 800. And it allows you to connect as many as six devices through a single, compact port.

With just one cable, connect any Thunderbolt-enabled Mac and get 27 inches of high-resolution screen space, high-quality audio, a FaceTime HD camera, FireWire 800 and Gigabit Ethernet ports — and a Thunderbolt port you can use to daisy-chain additional high-performance peripherals such as hard drives and video capture devices.

The Thunderbolt Display includes a MagSafe connector that powers and charges your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.1 The connector sits on your desk, ready and waiting. No need to unwind the cord to the power adaptor that came with your notebook. Leave it exactly where it is, in your bag.

Connect your Thunderbolt-enabled Mac to the Thunderbolt Display for a panoramic viewing experience unlike any other. This huge 27-inch glossy widescreen display features a cinematic 16:9 aspect ratio and an astonishing 2560-by-1440 resolution. That gives you more room to work with apps on your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. And a worthy desktop companion to your iMac or Mac mini.

Full brightness with no waiting. That’s the big advantage of LED backlight technology. Unlike most displays that take time to warm up before they reach maximum brightness, an LED-backlit display is instantly on and uniformly bright. LED backlighting also gives you greater control over screen brightness. So you can tune the Thunderbolt Display to suit the ambient light in even the dimmest room.

Thunderbolt-enabled Macs, including the current generations of MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac are fully compatible with the Apple Thunderbolt Display. Customers with Macs that only support Mini DisplayPort output, such as the Mac Pro and MacBook, as well as previous generations of MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini and iMac can use the 27-inch LED Cinema Display.

I thought the whole one year warranty thing was illegal under EU law, no matter what Apple said in small print?

As far as I'm aware Apple only have to deal with claims directly under warranty for 1 year. You are still covered by EU legislation for 2 years, but you'd have to contact the seller (OcUK) to get things sorted out rather than Apple directly.

Apple are covered as what they state is in the first year they will repair the monitor for any fault.

To cover themselves under EU law they state if you don't purchase the additional warranty you can claim warranty in the 2nd year but they will prove the monitor had a fault which it did not have from day one and as such not covered resulting in you needing to to pay them for repair. This is how they cover themselves. Poor show really.

Hence to cover ourselves and give customers peace of mind we purchase them with the additional 24h care package giving three years cover and a 24hr hotline for help.

That is not my understanding at all and if they actually said this they would be back in the EU courts again pretty quickly.

This links shows what they say on the subject: http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/

The key difference is as PCM2 stated, they insist on the claims after 1 year going through the retailer which is of course quite normal.

As the retailer I don't disagree that it makes sense for OCUK to include the extra cover so they don't have to get involved, but it is not because Apple are going to force you to pay in year 2 it is just that Apple will not deal directly with the year 2 problems as they would in year one.

Guys, will this work okay with my PC set up?

Will it work out of the box or will I need to do any tweaking??
