just been offered 2 new 7870 Tahiti LE's and I am wondering if they are worth it now that the new cards are out ?

Way too expensive as you can get them brand new with free games for less. There are loads of deals around on 7950 and 7970 cards at the moment. See what OCUK has when this week only get's updated later.
If he got them online why doesn't he DSR them for a refund? The retailer can't refuse. If he bought them over the counter though he's stuffed.
how are the 7950's the same price ? 7950= £200+ 7870 Tahiti LE £140 , is the extra memory worth the extra £60+ for gaming @1080p
The new R9 270 (pre-order £135) is equal to the 7870 in performance, and the 270x (starts @ £147) beats it.

They have gone up a bit againi would say the 7950 is worth £200, its about 15% faster and i do think the extra GB of vRam will give it better future proofing, 2GB is getting the stage where its not enougth any more, these GPU's have the power to run at settings that will max that in BF4.
