New build help won't power on

Evening all, so I've just built a new pc, bought new i5 haswell with msi z87 g45 board, put it all together got it all neat! Turned it on and power came on but nothing on screen, moved the dvi cable to onboard to see if that would do anything but nothing, put it back to card and turn power on but still nothing then it just shut down and now won't turn on at all.

What to do now? What to look for?

List all your parts

Tried cmos clear,mb battery out for 10 minutes

Plugged in the 4 or 8pin power plug and 24pin motherboard plug from psu
 
Case : nzxt h630
Board: msi z87 g45
CPU: i5 haswell 4670k
Teap group Vulcan red 8gb
Samsung evo 250gb
Psu be quiet 650 fully modular
Gpu: msi 6950 twinfro iii

That main parts that are in at mo rest of hhd's I will put in when working!

Have removed battery while typing this on ipad
 
Did you also test without the 6950 installed? Using igpu and not just leaving it installed and swapping display cable over

And if the 6950 has been BIOS flashed to a 6970 that might affect things also,you have to set it to stock BIOS,I've seen that be an issue on z77,dunno if it carries over to z87
 
Have tried both ways but at first power was on but now won't power on after it shut down
 
Can't think whatelse you can try other than testing with just one ram stick,and another psu if you can
 
No beeps at all, just tried psu jumper trick and things power up so we know psu works! Still nothing when connected to board
 
Might be a dumb question, but have you connected the front panel connectors correctly according to the manual?

If its not that and youve tried putting in the RAM in one by one, then its most likely the motherboard.
 
Ok so an hour or so later and much faffing around, I took mb out and wired up old board etc and everything works as it should so I can only guess that the new msi z87 board is doa

First time ever I've had dead board oh well rma time it is
