Best £100-150 tab for 4 year old?

Hi all

My sister wants to get my 4 year old niece a tablet for Christmas and has been asking me which one she should get. I suggested the kindle fire 8gb, but just wondering if there are better alternatives for the price. Tescos says the galaxy tab 3 is £140 down from 399. but everywhere else has it at the same price. The Nexus 7 is on Argos for £130 is this any good/better?

Our almost 3yr old has taken control of our kindle fire HD. The interface is probably a bit easier than vanilla android and allows for easy parental controls (activated after her first purchase a few months ago!). Build quality is pretty good and to date she has only hurt her toe when dropping it. She loves it, to the point were we have taken to hiding it for days at a time!
 
Tesco Hudl would be my pick over the Kindle Fire, Nexus 7 (2012), and the Galaxy Tab series. £119 so good price compared to the others.

There's an app designed for children to make the interface friendlier but I forgot what it was called :p.

Would you say the Hudl is better than the Nexus 7 ?, Ive had the original Nexus 7 since it came out but we are thinking of getting out 10 year old a tablet and was going to get the Hudl but I noticed that Argos have the Nexus 7 for £120.

Ive been trying to find reviews for them both to compare but havnt found much :(
 
Quick specs rundown between the two:

Nexus 7 (2012):

SoC: Tegra 3 Quadcore A9 @ 1.2 GHz + GeForce (And to be honest, Tegras are a mess)
Screen: 7" 1280 x 800
Storage: 8/16 GB

Hudl:

SoC: Rockchip Quadcore A9 @ 1.5 GHz + Mali-400MP4
Screen: 7" 1440 x 900
Storage: 16 GB (+ microSD up to 32GB)

Only pro for the old N7 is that it will have the latest Android version, but a child wouldn't care about that. I doubt they'll care about the camera quality either but unlike the N7 the Hudl has a rear camera + better front camera. The Hudl is also pretty durable so should handle a few drops. The extra storage space will be handy if she wants to watch a few cartoons as well.

Really the hudl? Thought it would be garbage compared to the others. How is the interface on it? It's primary purpose will be playing cartoons and children's app games.
 
The 4 year old won't care what tablet she's getting. Especially if she's just going to watch cartoons and play children games.

I'd go with £50 on a tablet, £50 on a kids day out, £50 on kids clothing ortoys.

This. I don't think that a 4 y/o is going to know how to operate Android, let alone appreciate the fact that £150 is quite an expensive piece of kit, especially if that's coming from just 1 relative. I was about 8 (1986) when I knew my way around a BBC Micro, knowing how to boot up a disk etc. The average spend on a Cmas/birthday present back then was £20, which is about £50 in nowaday money. The exception is when more than 1 relative clubbed together and got me something that was ~2x£20 like a tent or a technical Lego set :-)
 
This is going to be off myself and my mum so two people. My sister has rejected my idea for a hudl because I initially told her it was crap (spec-wise) and wants a samsung because amazon has it 399 down to 140 even though nearly everyone else has it 180 down to 140 as well.

Hudle, kindle fire 8gb, nexus 7 (2012) and samsung tab 3. Still trying to decide, but leaning towards the hudl as I can get 10% off tesco with it and use my CC vouchers to buy it.

If I had a tablet when 4 yr old it would been smashed to bits within a few days me an my twin brother went through a lot of toys lol.
I would buy a cheap tablet for a four year old £100 max myself.
