purchased these here over a week ago!... got around to fitting my water-cooled set-up yesterday... however i had them nearly all fitted when i noticed one of them was tight..as in, it didn't feel like it wanted to fit into the CPU block after a go or two, i took it off to inspect...and try another one. to my surprise the tight one is black plastic and not steel/metal like the other 5.... i made sure threads where not effected and tried again as it was the last one to be fitted, i eventually got it on thou its tighter than the other 5 to fit. im disappointed i got one plastic with the 6pack..and im disappointed in myself for not returning
these..i was just too excited to wait some more weeks.

my question is has this happened to anyone else??? what should i do about this??? so far everything is fine (no leaks). will there be problems with the plastic???

i would appreciate any advice or help with this!

thanks!

I would contact OCuk via webnote or call them.
I have monsoons 16/10 and all were made of metal, so maybe you were just unlucky.

Never heard of this happening. I would replace the part, not because its plastic (although its offputting when you payed for metal) but because it needs to screw into the thread smoothly and tighten due to the O-Ring compressing, as its the O-ring that seals it. I had a miss threaded XSPC fitting the other day but like you, had no spares and was excited. After finding that hand tightness (which is all you should use for watercooling fittings) didn't get it close enough to compress the o-ring, i cleaned up all the leaking fluid :(, and used pliers to forcibly make the miss threaded fitting cut into the plastic of the reservoir until it was water tight.

I should have returned the fitting but now i have got it to cut through the reservoir, likely i will need PTFE if i ever change that fitting (don't intend to go through that roller-coaster of emotion again).

i did first before i came in here...[I'm new to monsoon fittings so I am not sure how they should come. If you have any issues about this please check on our forums]- this is what i was told...!:confused:

i did get the fitting on flush to the block with no leaks at all, i didn't need a pliers to force it on.. thou i did need the little monsoon tool after one or two threads....

I bought a pack of six recently and all mine are metal, if one of yours is plastic, I'd be sending them back.

would overclockers take them back now iv used them??? at the moment everything is fine... but down the line when i change things i will always be thinking why didn't send them back straight away.....

the taught s of emptying the loop... and then haven to wait some weeks for returned goods is killing me :(...

think think think....

Make sure to take pics, if ocuk can't help (which they should as they have a good relationship with monsoon) then get in touch with monsoon directly and see what they say. Having spoke to monsoon a few times they are always friendly and willing to help.

It almost sounds as if a prototype or test fitting has made its way into retail.

if its a prototype or test fitting i might have some issues in the long term... i might even have issues as soon as i take the fitting of the block..with thread issues on the cpu block itself...god i hope not.

iv mailed ocuk back to see what can be done about this... fingers crossed there's no major issues with the out come!!!

thanks guys for help will keep update!!!

I only say prototype or test as I'd presume batches are cast/machined from a cheaper material before starting the process with more expensive metals to check for any defects.

Let us know how you get on, in the mean time, I know its a pain to do but I would strip the loop down to show ocuk and monsoon the fitting in question.

after a good think and a reply from ocuk...iv decided i wont return the fittings.
ocuk where willing to refund my money.. but in the end haven to strip this down and the hassle of returning these, all over one fitting (less than 10 euro) i just couldn't to be bothered...i will just buy one when the time comes to clean out the loop.

thanks ocuk...

and to the reply s with advice.. thanks lads appreciate it ;)
