Hi all,

After 6 years its finally time to upgrade my 19" TV. I'm looking for something 40/42" and no more than £400 (£300 would be better but am happy to pay the extra for something that's good quality). However I know literally nothing about TVs, and am struggling to find any good comparisons or guides.

Not bothered about it being smart or 3D, and 3 HDMI ports would be nice but not essential, but it definitely needs to be 1080p.

So what would you recommend?

Thanks,
Nathan

Edit: forgot to mention it'll be used for gaming so I guess low input lag is important?

You're going to get a lot of suggestions for a Samsung F5000 in whatever size you can afford. And those suggestions are probably right. There is no chance you're getting a 42" TV of passable quality for £300 so give up that search right now.

Would you consider used? Tend to be a lot of people moving on something like the Panasonic GT30 around that price level.

Thanks for all the help guys, ended up going with a 42" F5000, it's very pretty, and takes up most of my wall :D.
