Should Gary Barlow return his OBE?

Iv said this before and I will say it again. If I earned the kind of money these "celebrities" earn I would find ways of paying the minimum amount of tax possible. The amount of tax that we pay that gets wasted on keeping junkies and wasters on the dole is a Fn disgrace.

Rant over hangover beginning :-(

What if he's avoiding tax legally so that he can donate more to charity? How does that fit with your black and white view on the world?

what if he's not?

I would certainly consider that if I was in his position. Dumping your earnings into the tax system for the government to do what they want with would seem less likely to good than choosing causes you believe in and supporting them.

What and let everyone else pay for the running of Britain?

If everone did that.. The UK would be in more of a mess than it actually is.

Send me across details of your life and I'll show you where you can stop avoiding taxes. E.g. cancel that ISA. Donate the tax saved with your personal allowance and pension contributions.

You come across as very bitter...

I don't have a life :(

Everyone can and does avoid tax to some extent.

If it is legal to avoid tax but your feeling is that it is a moral duty to give more, then I would feel that choosing my cause is acceptable, rather than chucking it into the tax pot.

Tax avoidance is a duty. It is the government which has to legislate and within that framework it is our duty to pay the correct amount. I am really not at all good at tax avoidance but I so hope to improve.

Surely paying the minimum amount of tax possible is just good buisness practice and common sense??

Also, Mr Barlow has probably still paid more in tax than the majority of people in this thread added together ever have.
