No I do feel passionately about do gooders having their cake...
Then he should avoid it and shutup. Not plead with the public to give to charity.
Who I might add are not avoiding paying their TAX!
Seems like everything else. Noise on some forum or social media.
Pretty sure Gary Barlow has done more for society and charity than if he paid more tax and just sat at home, which is why they give him an OBE.
I'm not even sure what this argument is about. Wouldn't making tax savings allow you to give more time/money to charity?
Paying tax doesn't improve the charities does it.

There seems to be the distinct whiff of a have not bemoaning a have.
Nothing wrong with legally using the system to maximise your earnings - thats like saying driving your car at 50MPH in a 50 zone is morally wrong because you could be driving at 30 and save the life of someone who may possibly step in front of you.
As others have mentioned, somone like Gary Barlow has probably paid more tax in recent years than many pay in a lifetime, not to mention he has probably donated an awful lot more to charity than most of us could ever hope to.
Also, just because someone is wealthy does not mean they can, or should, take it on themselves to fix all of the wrongs in the world. In truth, the fact that there are children in need is not Gary Barlow's problem. He has elected to use his fame and status to draw attention to something and help raise money for charity. True, it may have the double bubble of helping his own finances, but so what? If all of these celebrities didnt do what they do - would Children in Need have anything like the coverage it does? No, probably not and therefore the money raised would be vastly lower. The end result being that less children are helped. Its a means to an end, and there is nothing wrong with it.
He is rich and successful, you are not. Get over it.

How did this topic come up anyway? he went scouring for news? I haven't heard of Gary Barlow since that big all together song for the Jubilee, or was it the Olympics? and it was very nice. Then before that I can't remember the last time I heard of him and Take That.
Whats funny is if easyrider was in this same situation he'd have good accountants as well to bypass it. You can't tell me nobody would do this if they could. It's just how it is. Nobody cared about all this until all the economy squeeze. Now it's a witch hunt.
In truth, many of the Public, if not most do avoid paying taxes at some juncture.
Government doesn't deal with tax avoidance.
The rich avoid tax.
Country goes down the pan.
People don't care because it's legal and law is their bible.

Can someone give a an example of Tax avoidance and Tax evasion. If we accept that in both cases the INTENT is to pay less tax than is normally due under the broad means of collecting tax.
What im getting at...is it really so difficult to have a system that is fit for all and treats all tax payers equally irrespective of income. (i know pie in the sky stuff here haha).
As i understand it as well..it is quite difficult to ensure that the tax system is watertight and not suspect to tax avoidance schemes. Yes? Whys this then?
Is it because there are so many different ways of receiving "income" and different tax rules apply to each so receiving income one way is fine and dandy..ie hardly any tax but receiving it another way = pay full whack of tax on it.

That is true. But how does it financially benefit GB if he gives his money away? Sure he is avoiding tax but what is his gain?
Unless of course he owns (or is massive shareholder?) in the charity in question? (or the parent company of the charity?) Then is it like hes giving from his left hand to his right hand yeah?
