Screen + the rest more than makes up for that. :p

Haha. Good thing I'm happy with the phone and plan as is then.

Remind me again why I must have KitKat right now? I see nothing special.

I couldn't be bothered waiting for a black one so I have ordered a white one. It will be a bit of an upgrade from an S2.

I can vouch for that. I upgraded from a S2 and am still blown away by the speed. The biggest increase I noticed was with the Barclay Bank App, used to wait ages for the accounts to load up now they are pretty much straight on the screen with the Nexus 5 :)

I like the Google now integration, and no more tron blue, it looks a lot cleaner without it, never really cared for it. The other stuff like full screen apps and transparent navigation buttons arn't so important on the Note 3. Mostly it is just that things keep getting smoother and faster with Android updates.

tbh I think the Note 3 will have it in a few months, Samsung and HTC have recently stepped up their update game and most of their phones are 1 version behind, which is pretty amazing. And going forward the Android team isn't going to update the HAL much so updates should be a lot easier.

Also did you have to pay for the phone kona, thinking to get my dad a Note 3 (he has a S2) as his starting to get a big older and the bigger screen would be really nice.

Don't get why people are obsessed with updates, they usually bring absolutely nothing useful 90% of the time plus custom roms have them within a few days anyway.

The note however is just far too big to use as a day to day phone.

That's why I have a nexus 7

If all of the android platform was on 4.4 I think it would be a lot better in generally, and outside of nexus device custom rom with the latest OS isn't all that amazing.

Lol tell me about it.

It was posted on hotukdeals via Phones.co.uk.

The handset charge was later amended to £240, but my order still went through.

Ahh yes, hotukdeals is wonderful at times, picked up an iPhones 5s off orange for £22 a month and no up front cost, mom was well happy. Ill keep an eye out see if I can get something nice for my dad.

It may be because it's 'new+shiny' lulz. A new wallpaper and some icons and it's OMG.

It's not all rosy having the latest OS version either. It'll have bugs and breaks a load of app compatibility.

I'll be happy to wait a few months as the core OS has hardly changed, and all the updated Google apps are on the Play Store anyway.

Does anyone else have slow to lock GPS, mainly indoors?

This is the second head to head where the N5 gets trounced (5:29 for GPS) -

It's been two different N5's too. The first was my 16gb black, then this video is my 32gb white.

It seems to work fine outside, so SatNav in the car is no problem, but I notice indoors (where others have no problem) it struggles. This generally means it's not a problem, why would you need it indoors, but I just wonder why?

This will pretty much never happen so long as there is competition.

Even then people may use the same phone for like 5 years, etc.

The only thing I have noticed that is better with 4.4 is transparent bars.I usually make them smaller anyway using mods so tbh not exactly life changing.

Some of the apps I use don't work with 4.4 so it has bad sides to it being the first to receive updates.

People just seem to go mental for updates like they are the messiah. The nexus 7 thread had some stupid posts about 4.4 too.and they wanted it now instead of waiting a few days.

If the updates were bigger and added a lot more then getting them sooner would be great but android has got to a point where updates are mostly minor and hard to notice.

Did I miss something cos the Barclays apps say they don't work on a Nexus 5?
