*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Probably to stagger the load on PSN.

You could reasonably argue NA was the market they most wanted to 'win' (similar effect to political parties dumping resources into swing states). Japan was a done deal before they even announced PS4, and the EU (sans UK, give or take) has always had a strong Sony bias. Makes sense to pool your resources into those areas, especially when it gets you a release earlier than your rivals.

getting more and more sure I will be cancelling my pre order - I just can't justify it when I have so many brilliant games on ps3 still to play - i will get a ps4 when uncharted, ff15 et al land i think

They wouldn't be in a hurry anyway, there are literally no Japanese made games ready for release yet. (Apart from Knack!)

The Japanese launch was a decision made by many. They need games like Yakuza ready.
Well I can see the sense in that but at the same time why don't they have any asian market games till february? just seems strange to me, did the wii U flop in japan as well? if it did then I can sorta understand them targeting the western markets as that's where their competition will be.

The Japanese are way too busy with hand helds at the moment. All the rpgs have migrated to hand helds you see.

Its pretty insane, Microsoft are probably partially to blame for the Sony sales.

I'm getting tempted to buy one before christmas if they have any(after watching GiantBomb stream). I mean it has a lot of games and most of them are good, maybe not great but it doesnt need great games yet.
