Movember 2013 - Who's in?

The thing that annoys me and reason I'd never partake, is because it's not about the charity aspect anymore, its just a fad.

Let's all about getting people talking and donating - fad or no fad, the end goal is to raise money for Charity. I personally think One Direction is a fad but you can't argue if they are used for Charity (like Children in Need), money will pour.

Don't be a No-tash Grinch... :p

I don't think it's ever been "just" about charity, it's also about raising awareness of a number of issues that affect people. Charity is, or should be, a large part of it but if the issues of prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health are brought to the fore and discussed more openly leading to a better prognosis for those who are affected by these issues then that's a worthwhile goal as well.

Absolutely. It's gender targeted campaign because men are notoriously bad about discussing their health, leading to later diagnoses and poorer chances at successful treatment. A campaign that makes it normal to talk about testicular/prostate cancer is a good thing if it didn't raise a penny, but the fact is that it raises quite a few pennies indeed!

I enjoy doing it, it's a good laugh when you have an entire watch of blokes sporting ridiculous tashes. :D

But it does seem to be getting a bit 'oversubscribed' as far as raising money goes. There are countless friends and family taking part in it this year and loads of folk have posted on my FB page a link to their donation space. That said, as semi-pro waster mentioned, as long as the yearly campaign raises awareness of the health issues, the charity/donation issues although important, are a nice bonus otherwise.

Any updates? Mad tashes that have been waxed at the ends? I'm IN this year. I can't grow anything astounding though as I have to maintain it and keep it tidy looking for work. Looking more paedo/70's porno than anything though IMO :p

I couldn't grow a tache if my life depended on it, so I grew one. It looks awful, but raised a ton for a good cause.

It's a fad which continues to help raise awareness for prostate/testicular cancer, I don't have an issue with that kind of fad. Just because someone doesn't have a JustGiving page doesn't mean they're just doing it because it's a fad.

Dev- where is your neck ?! You should hook up with that blonde boy with a giraffe neck.

You need to work on that there worm of a neck. If (unlikely as you're a comp nerd) you ever got into a fight, you'd be KO'd with 1 decent punch.

My extremely lame attempt this year. I'm an embarrassment to my Indian heritage :(

Edit: I also appear to be jaundice.

I think people missed the point of Movember. It was meant to be about raising money or at the very least awareness. This is meant to be done by just having a moustache, if you grow you're beard as well then you're not doing anything apart from growing a beard.
