I'm surprised so many regular internet users are up in arms about the reported faults so far. Remember that the 360/PS3 era was the first online console era. Most console gamers back then, as with a lot of people in general didn't use the internet anywhere near as much.
It's a dedicated component either way, the main difference being that it's internal rather than external. Doesn't make it automatically less likely to be faulty just because it's internal.
No the first online console was the original xbox

Has anyone pre-ordered from Tesco and heard anything from them regarding launch day or available bundles? On the Tesco website it says they will contact you prior to release to inform you of your pre-order status but I've not heard a peep. Hoping I'll just be able to queue up and get one at midnight.
Wasn't counting consoles that 'could' play online. I'm talking about the console generation where MOST people started to play online. Very few people used online gaming on earlier consoles than the 360/PS3.

The point being anyway that because people were not online all that much you didn't hear about the issues as much.
So getting worried now just because you do hear them (even though they have always been there in any product launch) is a bit presumptuous
I'm sure the Dreamcast was online of sorts...
You could play the ps2 online with the network adaptor. I remember playing Tony Hawks online with it years ago.
where can you purchase a ps4 with a 5 year guarantee? Do electronic stores still do 5 years guarantees (of course at a cost, which I'd be willing to pay)
