Still makes Zero sense.
Win8 is cheaper, its undeniably better.
And if you really can't get on with metro. Theres very easy ways around it.
I disagree, but I respect your opinion. Thanks for sharing it

Waste your money, but don't try fooling anyone. You're doing it purely to spite your face.
Don't lead others down the same path,
If you have to buy a new version of windows, theres only one sensible option .
I would buy an older OS because in my opinion it's better?
Windows 8 has certain technical inferiorities that degrade the desktop experience in order to ease things for Microsoft in supporting e.g. tablets. For example, ClearType font rendering. In Windows 7 you have RGB subpixel smoothing, whereas in Windows 8 this is performed in grayscale only to more easily support screen rotation. The result? What you are doing right now - reading this post - is an inferior experience on Windows 8 to Windows 7. As most people read text on screen *a lot*, it's a significant difference.More familiar? Than changing a few settings in windows. And installing start is back or one of the many others.
Thus you have the exact same familiarity. A far superior os and a cheaper os.
So no, although its your opinion, it makes absolutely no sense.
And then what in 2,4.6 years time? Tell people never to upgrade again as theres a several hour learning curve?

I reverted to Windows 7 from Windows 8 as the fonts look crap, and that makes, in some tangible way for the desktop user, Windows 8 an inferior OS with missing functionality.

It's still worth the investment at this stage, given how many years of support Win7 has left.
I better uninstall my copy of Windows 8 that I've been running for months because what you said sounds awful.
XP's still being supported isn't it?
I have W7 Pro on my gaming machine and W8 on my laptop.
The difference between is purely cosmetic for your average user (thats me) who doesn't really use a lot of the more advanced stuff in Windows and while I have nothing bad to say about W8, I much prefer W7.
I've had a few issues with W8 though that I've never had on any version of Windows before, the worst being the mouse lag bug when I upgraded to 8.1, fortunately I do very little gaming on my laptop so it wasn't a biggy but if that was on my desktop it would have been replaced by W7 immediately.
I'd say just buy whichever suits your wallet the best.
April 2014.
Mouse lag only effected certain games, the fix/patch is out at Microsoft website http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2908279 so it's no longer an issue.
don't be such a **** all your life. i don't have any problems with the fonts either but i don't feel the need to be sarcastic about it to someone who obviously does. :/
That's fine, but you could have poor eyesight, or be the sort of person who can't taste the difference between a Pot Noodle and Michelin-starred cuisine i.e. have little appreciate of quality.I better uninstall my copy of Windows 8 that I've been running for months because what you said sounds awful.
