Hi I'm new to pc parts and building pc's. It's been goin well so far but i'm getting crappy performance in demanding games like bf3.

I've been buying second hand parts ( to keep it cheap ) from generic auction site.

All's well and built fine but (I watched lots of videos).
CPU=2500k GPU=280 playing at 1080p

When choosing gfx card I did loads of reading and everyone is saying that the 280 is a great card. it was a great price to.! Just doesn't seem to run games very well.

I've got the latest drivers I think 331.65.

whats going on? :mad:

Alas, I'm not entirely sure what year the articles or comments you were reading were from but the Nvidia GTX280 has been old hack for a long long time.

The 2500k is good though, so you've got that going for you.

Hiya.

all the numbers don't meen much to me but i'm sure they said they not ago came out they're not that old are they? I was surprised when it was so cheap

I just knew it was only a matter of time until this happened once AMD started using the 2x0 product codes, tbh I was surprised it didn't happen with the Geforce 9x00 series and the Radeon 9x00 series.

Unlucky man, can you return the 280?

Since he bought 2nd hand parts, I highly doubt he has that option.

Tbh when comparing GTX280 vs R280X it's pretty much like crap and chocolate.

It was a really good card at that time when it was released and is still able to run most games at decent setting if you are below 1080p. But if you are planning on playing bf3/4 etc. on 1080p, you are looking at low and some medium settings.

Edit: OP - I think while you were searching for reviews you simply wrote "280 review/benches" which resulted you in links to the newest ones which were on the R280X, in which imo is why you made a mistake.
