Loss of power in 4th/5th gear

You dont want to be turning that engine over at all in the current state! certainly dont drive it!
if you cant find the sump plug, you could syphon it with some old hose just dont go drinking any!

Its still odd that the oil light came on in the first place. The 1.9TDi's don't really use oil unless something is broken and the oil pumps don't seem to break and cause low oil pressure like on the 2.0TDi's.

The top post honestly just sounded like your clutch was slipping. If you've put another 5L of oil in I wouldn't want to drive the car too much.

But I've had the master and slave clutch cylinders replaced because it used to be impossible to get it into gears. That was three months ago.

Yeah, but it's your clutch plate that makes contact with the engine and gives you power to the wheels, when that plate is worn out, when you press the accelerator, the engine obviously spins but the clutch plate doesn't have enough grip and slips, and hence that's why you have the car revving normally, and no power being put to the wheels. A good test of this is to put the car into 5th doing 40 or so mph and floor it and you should see the car revving very happily with nothing happening to your speed!

Cylinders have nothing to do with it.

Little late to this party and the only version I could find was cashed on google images but....

If it was clutch, the revs would be going higher than 3k.

My guess, blocked fuel filter, or dodgey MAF. Or faulty oil pressure sensor, initiating limp mode.

I was just reading the ops first two posts where he said it was revving fine with nothing going to the wheels :D

Some good news, oil has been drained out and new put in. The garage cleaned the Turbo Valve solenoid and found a small slit in the turbo pipe. This has been fixed and the car is better in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear. However it loses power in 4th and 5th.

Drove it without the MAF ad it seemed better, but eventually the same thing happened again. Were going to try a new MAF next week, if that doesn't work then a new Turbo Valve solenoid.

I would advise you pay somebody else to do it and anything else that needs doing on your car. I would keep your level of involvement with the car to simply driving it and putting fuel in.

What he said, given your lack of mechanical knowledge I would leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.
