Evening all,
just playing with my system and my 9370 Black Edition 4.40GHz is only running at 3.8ghz?

also only shows this in the bios.

Do I have to manually clock it to the normal 4.4ghz it mentions it should run?

mb is gigabyte 990xa-ud3,

Cheers,
ollie

It may be that your board does not recognise it as a 9370 with your bios version - a bios update may fix that.

However, you'd get much better performance with a manual overclock - the 9370s are just supposed to be highly binned fx8350s with a not-very-aggressive factory overclock - so you should have no problem cranking it much higher than the meagre 4.4ghz it is rated at.

Hmmm, cheers guys..

any advice on multiplier and clock speed for the base 4.4ghz?

Shall I set voltages to stand spec also?

Even if you just set the multiplier the 24 and then set CPU voltage manually to default it will probably be fine. But on that chip you should aim a bit higher to make the most of it. If you use auto volts (and given the board isn't detecting the correct settings) auto will probably overvolt it quite heavily.

The FX scales very well with FSB overclocking as well as multiplier (as it speeds everything up!).

right.
now changed the multiplier to 22.
cant change the cpu frequency though.

set the board speeds to standard and it clocks 2 of the cores to 4.4 but none of the rest. any ideas what im going wrong?

The problem is your board doesn't support the CPU. That doesn't mean that CPUID can't read the correct model name from the chip.

but should that stop me just running it up to the stock settings?

i`ve also seen plenty of people running this chip on the board?

As above, your motherboard doesn't support the CPU. If I were you I would return it if you can and buy an FX8350 then overclock.

If you can't return it, you may need a motherboard which supports it sadly.

i`ve also seen plenty of people running this chip on the board?

Are you sure they aren't using the 990FXA-UD3 as opposed to the 990XA-UD3? The revision 4.0 990FXA-UD3 has native support.

You could perhaps try the latest BIOS, it might help, on the other hand it might not.

yeah tried the bios, no help unfortunately :(

all installed so i`m guessing no chance of return either.

what board would you recommend or would it be better to sell the chip, or just use it a 3.8?

Did you buy from here or elsewhere? If its here you could return it if it is within 14 days regardless of whether it has been used or not. If it is elsewhere... Well... Still got all the packaging? ;)

If bought online new you can take it out the packaging and use it etc, aslong as you have the original packaging you can send it back under the DSR within a certain time frame which is atleast 7 working days but some places give 14 days or more

Bought the 990FXA-UD3 today from overclockers. Under further research it seems it needs to be a rev 4. Does say anything on the website but presumes its the latest.

Can anyone confirm?
