Asus Rog Mars 760 coming

Factory overclocked ones are yes. I was using stock 670 performance as a basis for comparison because we know stock 760 performance is slightly higher (by design) and so we know stock 760 SLI would be slightly closer to GTX690 than stock 670 SLI is, and from that guesstimate that a pair of 760's in a Mars running insane clocks could get well within striking distance of GTX690 in "out of box" performance.

No, stock vs stock, the 670 is better than the 760. By design, the 670 base info shows more processors/shaders, just a slightly lower core clock.

And yes, it would have to be insane clocks but there is a limit to how high the GPU frequencies can go stable.

Well before overclocking a dual GTX760 card should have quite a bit lower power consumption* than a R290X so as long as ASUS don't use a stock HD7970 cooler all should be good ;)

*dual 760 won't have anywhere near twice the power consumption as a single 760 just like GTX690 is nowhere near twice what the 680 is.
True, I was mentally just doubling the 760's heat generation in my head.

The is a (very outside) chance they may use serial Poseidon heatsinks on it (they developed them for 760 as well as 770)
That'd be interesting! Though I guess for them it'd narrow the market a fair bit.

Thinking about it I guess it's likely the 760 was as high-end as they could get under air. Will need decent cooling but it's not impossible.

clock for clock the GTX 670 is faster than the GTX 760, on Paper the 760 looks faster because it was given much higher clocks. in reality the 670 is a bigger more powerful GPU.

As for this, i wouldn't bother unless it costs the same as two 760's, even then, two 670's are much better.

Totally agree

I really don't like these dual asus cards as they are overpriced and full of problems.

This thread gives an idea of what a pain they can be

Dont they normally need to use custom asus drivers that make AMD's initial attempts look professional?

if this card is not £500 or less then I will laugh my ass off.

Their previous dual gpu didnt sell well so they decided to use 2 760 cores?

I think Asus would be better off if they offered cherry picked 780ti or 290x gpus under their Matrix branding.

Historically speaking, a double midrange GPU card HAS to be priced reasonably. Think about it, it will (estimating form specs here) perform in between the GTX780 and GTX780Ti, due to it technically having 2GB ram and the drawbacks of SLI it will HAVE to be cheaper than either or nobody sane will buy it.

And it won't be priced as such and no one will buy it :P
The 6870x2 and the 460 2 Win.

EDIT : Those charts are shocking.

Ok, so £520 and it trades blows with the GTX780Ti which can be had for £550. When you overclock both, the GTX 780Ti wins, easily. That and the potential for SLi issues.

So i repeat; What's the point in this card?

In our german forum all including me is asking the same question 620€ for what?
No thanks :D
They should introduce a 780 Ti Version of this for ~1000€ and many people would be happy, but i guess they would charge 1500€...

These mid range dual cards are always crap, due to their ridiculous price.
It needs to be priced between the cost of two 760's (Because lets face it, people aren't really queuing up for a 760 SLI)

Meh card. Come on Asus give us something to drool over!

Maybe they noticed the R&D expenses of a dual-GPU card of ARES2 caliber are not worth the marketing hype it gives.. :)

I'd love to see their interpretation of a 790 too, but it would cost them too much I bet.

Wow, I can't believe all the hate for this card, does it offend people that much? :P

I have no interest in one but I can appreciate it for what it is and what it does to the market, it's cheaper than a 780Ti (quite a bit if you compare it to a non ref cooled 780Ti) and gives equal/better performance, it's cool/quiet, it's only £80 more than a pair of 760's (DCii) in SLi (way lower premium than GTX690, HD7990, GTX590, HD6990, etc), don't want one then don't buy one, its simple ^^

Why not just buy a 780Ti and have a faster card for £30 more with no SLi but have the option to have another down the road without poor quad SLi scaling.

The hate for the card spans from ASUS releasing a card that is aimed at either collectors or people that don't have a clue.

Way lower premium than a 7990? What? : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-327-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1515

Also, i GTX690 has been out since May... last year. I bought mine early this year for £600 and have had a lot of use out of it.

Anyone who buys this card should probably get their head checked. Unless they have the money and are a collector.

7990 is cheaper and better.
This is just another high mark up card which should be 150 quid cheaper.

Same as the 460 2 win which was crap because of price and the 6870x2.
