*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I'm hoping for around £35-40 tops, be happy then. Its only the announcement of Uncharted thats peaked my interest again.

It'll probably be a good few months if not over a year before we see prices at that level, at the moment the install base just won't be big enough for the retailers to drop prices that far.

I guess we may see launch titles dropping to that level as the next phase of PS4/X1 games come out next year.

Can always try and get some bargains 2nd hand from the MM/other classifieds on forums. It isn't like a 2nd hand game is any less quality. It's how I bought most of my PS3 titles. This is perfect, unless of course you must get the game on launch day :D

Is the current game price the final price. £45+ seems steep?

I solve that issue by shopping at Amazon!
Pre-order waaaaaaaaaay in advance and take advantage of price drop promise. I pre-order pretty much everything of even slight interest as soon as it's up to make sure IF i decide I want it on release then I pay the lowest price.

For instance, BF4 w/china rising £40 as an example.

Hell you even get lucky sometimes. I got Uncharted 3 for £25 on release day because they slashed the price for an hour or less at some point. lol

So if retailers are already selling PS4 games at £40 (if only for a brief window) then the prices will dip below that before long.

Well I must be only one NOT EXCITED anymore about ps4.
Will have it on day one but....
I dont see any game to play on it...

After they pushed drive club there is 0 interesting fgames on ps4.. And rest i can play on my pc.

So i will be using ps4 for playing movies... Bored of copying them on pendrive to watch from tv :P

All the headsets out for it at the moment are wired i think. But id wait awhile and go wireless when they come out.

Doesn't need to be wireless tbh, not fussed so long as the wire is long enough.

Just want something decent so I can chat to people online.

Resogun is meant to be top notch, and Contrast, there's also Warframe too.

Killzone is just for the eycandy I think, but should still be nice to see the PS4s capabilities.

Are people expecting games to stay around the £50 mark? Seems ridiculous to me. I know that when the N64 launched they were £60 plus, but that was in the dark days of carts!

I never really complain about the price of games these days for this reason. I paid £65 for Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the SNES back in 1993, (I think) and even paid £150 for an imported copy of Mario Kart 64.

Gaming these days is a bargain seeing as how much more expensive they are to make these days.

People complain about a lot of things when it comes to games these days and clearly none of them were gamers back in the 90s!

'game takes 30-45s to load' - try 30 minutes+ Commador 64!
'games are £45' - £60+ 20 years ago....
'games are only 6-8 hours long' - errr, most games pre-PS1 era were about 60-90minutes long once you knew what to do

I know that's no reason not to want improvements, or cheaper, better and longer experiences but I think maybe growing up in that era lowers your expectations!! lol

I'm an ex ZX speccy owner. The number of times I waited for Back to the Future to load its 4 cassettes only to be greeted by a load error was infuriating!

I had a 48k spectrum with a dodgy cassette player, I had to hold the lid down for the entire load sequence which often took a good few mins. If I flinched, I had to start again.

It was like gaming foreplay.

contrast and warframe are also on PC and nothing against resogun, it's a fun looking indie game but its not why you spend £400 on a console. never been a killzone fan myself so that's not really a selling point for me but might be for some. I always tell myself to wait 6months after release before buying a console and have to say with the lack of good exclusives for either console it's been rather easy to stick to that this time around.

I know a few people in here were considering swapping the HDD for a SSHD or SSD:

Boot
Default 25.67s
Hybrid 20.3s
SSD 19.5s

Knack Disc
Default 39.67s
Hybrid 33.67s
SSD 34s

Killzone Downloaded
Default 60s
Hybrid 42s
SSD 39s

Resogun Downloaded
2/3 of a second difference

Looks like I'm going to buy a 1TB SSHD!

That's like saying that books are bargains nowadays compared to when there was no such thing as a printing press. It doesn't mean that artificially inflating the prices is a good idea.
